I'm having a problem which I think is related to colour management, can't seem to figure it out. Everything is being done on the same PC, running XP.

- RAW file edited to my liking in Lightroom 3
- RAW File exported as sRGB JPEG
- When JPEG imported back into LR, it displays as per my edits, colours correct
- When JPEG viewed in Photoshop, it displays as per my edits, colours correct
- When JPEG viewed in Internet Explorer it appears washed out and not as saturated as my edited file. This behaves as I would expect, IE8 is not colour managed.
- When JPEG viewed in Firefox, it displays as it should, nicely saturated and colours same as my edited file. This behaves as I would expect, FF is colour managed.

Ok, here's the bit I don't get..

As Windows Picture Viewer isn't colour managed, I've been looking for a lightweight colour managed viewer and have 3 different ones installed on the PC - Faststone, Fastpictureviewer and IrfanView. All of these I believe are colour managed, and I have the relevant colour management option ticked in the settings where appropriate.

When I view the exported JPEG in any of these, it doesn't pick up the colour profile of the image, the picture displays as per Windows Picture Viewer and IE - washed out colours and de-saturated. Adding to my confusion, when I load up a colour space test image in any of these lightweight viewers, it indicates that the viewer is in fact colour managed.

For some reason, the colour profiles of the JPEGs I'm exporting from Lightroom aren't being recognised. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated? Thanks.

I've not used Irfran view for ages and not tried any of the other viewers you mention. I wonder if colour management needs to be turned on. i.e it's off by default. Have a look in the applications preferences

I would guess that the profile is correct with your jpegs as Firefox picks up the profile.
