I've got a ancient of studio lights

They will not fit soft boxes on them but I found these...

this one I would imagine would work as a conventional soft box but there will be problems bringing it closer to the subject.

This one will get close to the subject but the light will go everywhere. the only advantage to this over a shoot through is there will be less wasted light.

What do people think of these, anybody used either?

Hi Stuart, i just got one through the post this morning so not had a play yet ( second one on you list of links ) but there isn't a difuser panel in them so could have a problem with hot spots. I've just cut up an old white shoot through brollie & velcroed it inside as a difuser :shrug:
 
Hi Stuart, still not had a chance to have a GOOD play yet but noticed you can get them about half the price here http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/mekingstudio__W0QQ_armrsZ1 The only problem i can see at the moment is not being able to control the edge of the light ( with the convex one ). I would say they are worth a punt though because they can fit just about anything, in my case, studio lights & SB600 on a stand.
 
Just a thought but that looks fairly close to the modeling light, no danger of it melting is there? some get pretty hot.
 
I have used one, just once so far, but quite happy with it. You can get reasonably close, and the cut off is a lot less obvious than a softbox. I used it with a 300 watt interfit stellar, and had no problems with overheating. Obviously its much more portable than a softbox.
