Hey everyone,

I am currently trying to draw up a list of photographers that shot studio portraits from various eras. Starting from say 1850 all the way up to today. I have a project idea for uni where by I will create a series of portraits (8-10) with each one being from a different era of studio photography. Thus when they are all presented to the audience they will be able to see how portrait photography has evolved through the ages.

I am having trouble coming up with photographers names. If you can think of someone who shot portraits in the studio please post them here.

I will add to the list as I go:

1850-1900
Julia Margret Cameron
Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll)

1900-1920
Imogen Cunningham

1920-1940
Cecil Beaton

1940-1960
David Bailey
Linda Macartney
Norman Parkinson

1960-1980
Robert Mapplethorpe
Cindy Sherman
Terry Oneail

1980-2000
Annie Leibovitz

2000-on

There is a chance I will include non studio photography. Non-studio photography may take the likes of Mario Testino, Nan Goldin.

Sir Cecil Beaton was working in the 1940's.

Andy

Annie Leibovitz - 1980s
Linda Macartney - 1960s
David Bailey - 1960s (you can put them in order yourself)
Sir Norman Parkinson 1950s

Terry O'Neill 1960 onwards so good he gets to take photographs of the Queen

Thanks for the great suggestions guys. I am still researching it. Anymore would be greatly appreciated.
