Guys,

Just wanted to raise a bit of awareness for the excellent Photographer Of The Year competition that has been a big part of TP for several years.

Lots of members, from novices to some of the most experienced members, go to great effort to enter month in, month out to compete for this coveted title. It's this kind of enthusiasm for both the site and their own photography that makes TP such a great forum. It would be great if we can get more people involved, if only in the voting for our monthly winners.

If you've not seen the POTY before and fancy giving it a go then head over to the main discussion page for more info on what each category entails and what the rules are.

If you don't feel like entering but would like to vote then head over to this month's entries that are all based around the theme 'floral' - cast your eye over the entries and choose the ones that catch your eye and place your votes.

It'd be great to get more votes from the members and keep this important part of TP going strong:)

Its amazing how it slips the mind, isn't it... I'm supposed to be running the leaderboard, and even I forgot to vote until yesterday - though that could just be early onset senility :lol:

Cheers all, just doing my bit.

I don't know how much the change from posting your images to emailing them and it being anonymous has impacted on both entry numbers and voting numbers, but I can see how people forget about it - I have to keep reminding myself to make sure I get my entry in. I like the new way.

Although I haven't put as much work in so far as others obviously have, it's still a fun competition and I'm hoping that at the end there's a fair representation of my style. I understand why some people can't commit to an entry every month but the more the merrier I say. It's free and it's something we all love doing :)

Much prefer the newer format. The anonymity aspect is a good thing to me, i'll not divulge why, but i certainly hope it stays that way.
 
Just gone through the entries and this forum has so many talented members. Really good set of image, some of them are outstanding. Good luck to everyone involved.

Voting is now underway for this month 'INTO THE LIGHT' and ends on Friday 8th. Anyone can vote and you can vote on as many entries as you like.

Thanks for bumping this thread Scott - the POTY deserves perhaps a little more attention than it seems to be getting at the moment - hopefully this can re-dress the balance a little.

Thanks Mark, not sure if this will work, but agree that the POTY needs more attention and more entries. Im not sure how many active members we have, but i'd like to know the percentage we have entering. Wouldn't surprise me if its only about 2% :shake:

Just dropped by and placed my votes, good luck to the entrants (wish my shots were half as good as these) and I'll try and remember to vote again next time.
 
I think I'm going to have to get a Sandwich board painted up, dress up in the Gorilla Suit, and Walk up and Down outside the Photography Discussion Section to gather some interest...


Well - it works for my local Carpet Warehouse...
 
You're right, this does deserve more attention. I can't promise that I'll submit images (I simply don't produce a diverse enough range of pics of high enough quality) but I will visit the thread more often and vote.

Wouldn't be the first time in a Gorilla Suit, back in my last year at college, I used to do Gorillagrams to supplement the meagre Student Grant (that dates it in itself :lol:)

Looking at your self portrait Mark, looks like you will have to have your Gorilla Suit taken in :lol: Congrats on the loss, an amazing amount to lose :clap: Bet its costing a fortune to refill your wardrobe :lol:

:lol: thanks - but it's quite the opposite - I've just sent about 10 pairs of jeans to the clothing collections last week - and I'm back in the black 501's from late 80's :woot: Thing was I never got rid of the old stuff - though I draw the line at the 80's rock band gig t-shirts... Well - apart from my "Motorhead - England" shirt, but that's still a few inches too small - maybe next year :lol:
 
Not long now, by the way people, if you're thinking of submitting something for this months competition...

(though in fairness, this time last month, I was still scouting around for props to take my shot - so there's still enough time, if you've got your ducks in a row...)

I've dropped the leaderboard link from my signature, as I'm now actually dropping links into the "winners post" each month instead - frankly, I haven't been able to keep up to updating the "menu" in any sensible way this year due to other commitments, and I just didn't like linking to something that was so far out of date.
