A bit windy in Scotland last night

Plenty of the white stuff here too.

Whilst having a landrover is a plus - people seem to assume you should be able to go everywhere.

Just past the Aultguish Inn Peter, I drove that road four times yesterday (Ullapool and back twice) and passed gritters/snow plows going both ways more than once but the snow just kept coming down. First time outwards it was pretty clear, last time coming back was after dark and that was scary even at 35mph. :eek:

My father in law spends 50% of his time living it up at his place in Teneriffe much to the disgust of his daughters.
 
Thought i would revive this, we don't get too much exciting weather here in comfy north London, but had a small adventure this lunchtime thanks to a freak storm. Left to go to a meeting at a posh hotel on the London/Herts border, the sort set in its own quite old grounds.

Wind was definitely picking up as I left and within 10 mins, before I even got there, was starting to look quite ferocious. Anyway, arrived at hotel that has a driveway winding through trees before opening out in to a carpark in front of the building. Parked up, got out of car, walked to door where a friend was stood having also just arrived. Got ciggies out before going in, just as the heavens opened and down it came. By now the wind is howling and suddenly there is an almighty crashing sound, I can only describe it as sounding like a skip lorry hitting a very big pot hole and the skips bouncing around. It sounded some distance away too, so we headed indoors to the meeting room, where another friend is on her phone "what, a trees down, are you ok?" I just looked at her and went straight back out and up the drive. Well, a monster conifer had come down, hitting the back of a delivery truck that was on its way out. Another of our group was on her way in, the drive is quite narrow so the truck had stopped and reversed a little so they could both fit and BANG - poor bloody driver must have wondered what the hell he had hit. However his first words to Alison were 'if I hadn't been here, that would have been your car'. No injuries, just a couple of shocked drivers and even the truck got away with relatively little damage considering, seems the bulk of the heavy part had glanced off the back, and as its some yards from the drive, the 150 year old trunk was on the grass. Perfectly healthy lovely looking specimen too.

We ended up being stuck there for another hour after our meeting finished while the tree surgeons were still busy, but they did a grand job clearing it. Needless to say, 20 minutes after it fell, the sun was out and there was gentle breeze blowing :rolleyes:

We have plenty of the white stuff at the moment with more heavy snow forecast overnight and into tomorrow

And it is a tad cold
 
We've a covering of snow. A couple of cm but nothing of note.

One of those lovely days. A bit of snow, blue sky and just cold enough to keep it lying.
