Like Bebop, I went for the wrong option at 3 instead of the more obvious one!

xxxyx, gyxyx, gggxgrrrrr(!), ggggg.

But if you go for the obvious one it will be the less obvious one........ Been there done that :LOL:
5 today that could have been a 3 and in many ways my first (wrong) choice was the most obvious to me.
2y, 2y, 4g with 3more options and I got it on the second option
 
Had to go back to remind myself of the word (and my wrong guess!) Trust me, the right one is far more likely than my wrong one! Have to admit that I go for as fast a solve as possible as much as the fewest tries.
 
:eek: 2 for me this morning! (NO coffee!!!)

A random starter got me xxxxg and an extremely lucky 2nd guess proved correct!

I nearly followed you with OOOXO on my second line but got it at 3rd go. WORDLEBOT says there were only 15 possibles after my first line.

I wonder how many possibilities there were after my first guess. Pure luck that I chose correctly!

Sort of interesting SCOREDLE says there were 25 possibles after my first guess versus 15 by WORDLEBOT (but WBOT knows the official list) but goes on to make repeated wrong guesses until only the correct one is left at 5th attempt! Very pleasing since when I’ve looke SCOREDLE has always done better than me.

I’ve no idea how SCOREDLE works since you have to tell it the answer at the start.
 
4 for me. An oddish starter got me yxyxx which got shuffled to little effect other than to exclude a couple of spots for the ys - xyxyx. A completely fresh starter gave me xyxxy so with 4 ys to juggle, it was "just" an anagram with a letter (probably) missing.
 
4 again today after a not to promising start 1Y, 1Y, but at least I had eliminated many of the more common letters so when I got 1G 2Y on my third guess there wasn't much left and a good guess gave me 5G.
 
5 for me. SO nearly a 4 but I actually backspaced and changed the second letter from the g to an x!

gxxxy, gyxgx, gyggx (so, effectively gxggg), gxggg, solved.
