Could have been a 3 but as ever the multiple choice was rubbish ... so it was a 5

I suspect that’s part of the reason for its popularity — it’s easy and not easy with an element of gambling when there are several choices for a missing letter.

While we've been away I've been trying to encourage my partner to try it, but he's having none of it. Actually Nerdle is probably more his thing, but I couldn't entice him there either. To be fair, he was coding a computer program .........

One of my regular starters gave me G-G--- , 2nd guess resulted in same, tortured my brain for about 10 minutes trying to find other words to fit, got it on third - I think it is the only other word that could fit with the start I had

Starter got me g...g, second guess didn't improve on that but the third gave me the middle letter too. Significant brain (w!)racking came up with the answer.
