Failed today for only the 2nd time ever. And for the same reason as last time. Why when I know where 3 letters are do I then decide to put 2 of them somewhere else? Arrrgh - thought I'd stopped making silly mistakes. Left me with 3 options and 2 chances. Why is the correct option always the last one I get to? :banghead::banghead::banghead:
 
You mean you moved two green to a different position?

I've had similar - 3G and no idea what the other letters were so I tried 5 new letters, got 2Y and only 1 option was a word. I've tried a G elsewhere with a fresh letter as well, just in case the G was doubled up - it wasn't!
 
The NYT denied any changes to gameplay, but it did admit that it was in the process of removing "offensive words" which included whore, slave and wench from both the list of acceptable guesses and the answers.

And the extra words are too difficult apparently:

Back to 3 today 0, 3G, 5G. Not a good start but it narrowed down my second choice.
 
5 today - had 2G and was a process of elimination for a few possible combinations……
 
4 today. Took an embarrassing amount of time to think of ANY word that would fit after my first two guesses. When I came up with a couple of words a letter apart, inevitably guessed the wrong one first.
 
6 again. At least each try was an improvement on the previous!

A lot of people think that they have purposely made it harder, but NYT say they have kept the game flowing as is. I think it might be more of a case of the more oddball words finally coming around, today's was pretty standard though many found it tricky. Maybe we're thinking too much? :D

On April the 1st they should go the other way and pick the most popular starting word as the answer just to create a social media tsunami.

The golf buddy I mentioned up there ^ has discovered that he can solve it on his phone then get it in 2 or 3 to show his kids that he's beaten them! (I say kids but they're in their 20s and 30s!)

Yep. I did it in Safari but forgot to set it to ‘colour blind” mode and then I couldn‘t remember which colour is which so I was annoyed when I had 4 right (or so I thought, correctly as it happened) and still made the wrong guess on the last row so I went to Firefox Focus and put what I was fairly sure was the correct word in — which it was :lol:

Same here!! Had 4 green on guess 4 with three possible options for the wrong letter - last one was pure 50-50 hopeful guesswork!!
