3 today. yyxxy was a decent start and morphed into xgxgg and from there to the solution.

A just today 1Y, 2G, 2G, there were just so many choices a lucky 4G really narrowed it down and I got there before running out of guesses 4G, 5G.

Semantic satiation or wordnesia — but not just capitals.

Wordnesia, not semantic satiation, makes sense. Very occasionally I've had the same when I've been writing and it seems to be caused by merely overthinking. It doesn't only apply to words but to anything you normally just do automatically. Like the time I started thinking about how to change gear on my motorbike..............

Yes, I’ve the same thing momentarily if for some reason I’ve begun to think about the pedals in the car, something one normally does ‘automatically’. ㋡.

OT but there‘s a fun link on that page I quoted explaining how

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo

is a grammatical sentence in English (at least in the bastardised US version ;) ):

My worst attempt yet and my first fail. I kept choosing an incorrect letter at the start.
1y
1y
2y 1g
4g
4g
4g
Welcome to the club of failures. I think all here have had at least one fail -- I guess someone will pop up and say they haven’t!

4 today. XBBXX BXXXO BOBXO left only one that would fit I think.

4 for me too. Starter got me xxxxg then yxyxg followed. xgxyg was effectively xggxg and only one word seemed to fit.

On a similar theme, in theory, "and" can be repeated indefinitely but still make some sense. If I were to type "Meandyou", it could be said that there need to be spaces between me and and and and and you. If I typed that as "...between me andandandandand you", it could be said that there need to be spaces etc. Not a LOT of sense but some, at least!!!

98% wins from 367 games so 7 fails, I make it.

Are we going to have some kind of competition over who’s had the most fails now :)

My 7 is winning!!!

I lost a lot of early stats, currently it says I’m on a winning streak of 160 with 199 games and 99% wins which looks like no more than 2 fails depending on how they round the percentages.

Bit of a struggle to 5 today — only one possible left at 5 I think.

On the subject of “fails” it now says I have played 200 and won 100% instead of the 99% it gave yesterday. I’m fairly sure I’ve had at least one fail so I’m a bit puzzled!

Probably rounded up. One fail from 200 games is 99.5% success so could go either way but one from 199 games is 99.497 (or so!) so might be rounded down.

A random starter gave me xxyxx with the y moving to xyxxx with an otherwise all new word. gxyxg followed and some mental juggling saw the solution after a moment or 2 of thought.

I don't know if it's still the same but when I was at school I was taught that when rounding up or down 1-4 down 6-9 up and for 5 down if the number in front was even and up if odd.

I think I remeber that too — more a way of eliminating sample bias than achieving accuracy.
