A bit of fun - WORDLE. (NB, US spelling!) No spoilers please

Had a brainstorm, reverted back to my old start word (the one that came up not long ago) and hit enter before the No!!!!!! from my brain got as far as my finger. 1g 1y. To be fair if I'd used my new start word it would have blanked and my alternative would have given me 1y, so perhaps the little senior moment was meant to be..... After 2g on the second try there were many choices so I count myself fortunate to get away with a 4.

3 today. BXXBX BBXXB OOOOO.

Almost a repeat of yesterday in that WORDLEBOT said there were only 32 possibles after my starter.

4. Blanked as a start, followed up with an xyxyx, then gxgxy (with the second x being the y if you see what I mean!) which didn't leave me many options - only one, I think!

I blanked my first attempt, then 2G and 2Y on my second guess. So a nice 3 for me :)

4 for me. xyxxx saw me mess up guess 2 by using the y in the same place... I did get another to go with it though - xyxyx. gxggx followed and the few letters I had left seemed to leave me with just the solution.

That’s two very good days!

A 4 for me today. I keep thinking I must try starting with the same word and every day I can’t remember what any of my word choices were… So it’s all random again.

I reckon it's like always using the same 6 numbers on the lottery - the week/day you forget, they'll come up!

4 today. Possibly might have been 3 if I hadn’t reused a B in the same wrong place at my second. WORDLEBOT says my first excluded all but 13 words in its dictionary.
XXBBB BBBXX XOOOX OOOOO

its interesting to see the possible number of words. Do you have to subscribe to see that?

I’m not sure. I am a subscriber to NYT so difficult to tell. WORDLEBOT is here:

Edit to add: I‘ve just signed out to test and I think it is a subscriber thing. If you make a free account you get a number of ‘pages’ a month free so that may work with WORDLEBOT.

5 for me today. Nice progression - 1g, 2g, 3g. 4g, 5g!

"Crossword solver" can help you there.

I’m not sure that’s quite the same thing*. It’s difficult to explain this if you have to be a subscriber to use WORDLEBOT but it only tells you how you’ve done after you’ve solved it (so it‘s no help in solving) and it knows the actual Wordle list of solutions rather than all possible words — though I think that list is widely available :(.

WORDLEBOT also can guess if you are using hard or easy mode

Some things we know of course. NYT biases towards US spelling (not exclusively), excludes words Americans think ‘rude’ plus I think some like “slave” as non-PC, and most (all?) plurals that are formed just by adding “S”.

* Guessing you may mean https://www.crosswordsolver.org/ which was the firat one that came up in my Google searcch.
