A basic question looking for a basic answer!

So, I have several 35mm film cameras that I've loaded with varying films over the past year or so but then lost interest and started using something else, many with only afew shots taken on each film. Can I take the film out of the old ones to install into the one I'm currently using? Obviously I'll lose any shots I had on the rolls already by exposing them during a swap over but the remaining film in the canister should be usable surely? I'm thinking I'll have to wind the film back a certain degree so the new camera can spool it up on the "exposed" spool?

Any thoughts? The thing annoying me is that some of the film isn't the cheapest so I'm thinking I may as well make the most of it!

Easy and do it all the time....Just note the counter, then wind the film back, install in another camera, then set the shutter speed to max and aperture to min, put your cap on the lens and also cover with your hand, hold the camera to your body to cover the viewfinder, then fire and wind on till you came to the previous shutter counter...But IMPORTANT add 3 shots on for the lead in and one more in case of errors( it will be two really) as you wind on for the next shot......Does all this make sense to you ?

As above. If you have a few films to do this with, write the number of exposures already made for each one on the side of the canister with a marker pen.

I find it useful to hold the camera up to my ear when rewinding as I can hear the film coming off the take up reel and stop before the film disappears inside the canister.

If it does, Ilford make a retriever tool.

Perfect sense indeed thank you very much I've just been investigating which cameras have film in, and there's only 2 after all looks like I have more developing to do than I thought I've also discovered my first film camera ever with a used film in it, I haven't used that camera since I was 10/11 years old, 15 years ago! That's definitely going to max spielmann today, I need to see what's on it it's some lovely supasnaps 200 in there

I've just managed to retrieve some Ektar 100 from an old Canon AF35ML that I'd only shot one exposure on, to save running the risk of winding it back and losing the end I've written that one off, I have the distinct feeling it was a test shot anyway!

I quite often use 36exp film in three cameras as I like to give all my cameras a "workout" and the Asda girls have never complained they had scanning problems.
