Commenting on a complaint from a Mr Arthur Purdey about a large gas bill, a spokesman for the North West Gas company said, “We agree it was rather high for the time of year. It is possible Mr Purdey has been charged for the gas used up during the explosion that destroyed his house.”

Well someone has to pay for it, he "used" it so it might as well be him :D
 
Surely the insurance will cover that? they paid the extra gas and electric used when I dried out my house after a leaky pipe flooded the place :lol::lol:
 
I wonder what eon's excuse will be when they sort out the electricity bill for my late Dad's house. Being hard of hearing, my Dad would never hear the man knocking at his door to read the meter. From 2005 through to January this year every bill has been estimated. Their estimates have always been over the actual reading it got to around 500 extra units. I would send them meter readings but they always seemed to ignore these. December last year the man from siemens left a card to say no one was in and could we provide a reading. I read the meter and telephoned the reading through. Now it's something to do with the numbers on the meter but when I gave them the reading and the bill had come through because my reading was similar to their previous reading they took it that it was now 1000 units over,why I don't know and we got a bill for over £3,000. Bearing in mind the house had been empty from the previous January. We've just had another meter reading and since January aparently the empty house has used another £1,000 worth of electricity. Spooky. At the moment we "owe" eon almost £4,400. My sister and I reckon where my dad had been over paying since 2005, they actually owe us.
 
Had a similar thing with Scottish Gas - they put a "new" meter in, but it was actually a preused one and they didn't take the new meter's reading when installing, three months later I get a bill for something like £1500, despite this being the summer and the heating having never been on, just the hot water........
 
I just wonder how many of these "stunts" are "deliberate" and how many are "accidents" :shrug:

but I meant overcharging

or then again maybe thats what happens when you don't pay your "inflated" bill :shrug: :D
