Hi

I've recently acquired a Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro lens. I've noticed that if I turn the aperture ring to anything other then f32 I get a message telling me to put it back.I'm sure everything is how its meant to be but could someone explain why it does this and what it means ??

Thanks everyone.

Adam

This is normal, you must set any lens with an aperture ring to its minimum on the D60, and many other Nikon bodies.

Generally most lenses nowadays do not have aperture rings (so called "G" type lenses), so you need to set your lens to f/32 and let the body control it.

Actually some bodies do allow you to still use the ring - D200 and S5 Pro certainly do - if you select this option in the menus.

This is perfectly normal - set any lens with an aperture ring to its maximum (really minimum in light terms) and you'll be fine.
