I've been keeping an eye on prices for the 80D for a while as I save up the pennies to buy one.

Pretty sure that at John Lewis, it's been about the £950 mark for body only, but then today noticed it's dropped to £779 and has an £85 cashback deal.

Anyone know if this is a promotion or they've dropped the price as there's a 90D around the corner?

Great camera for less than £700 nett....

even cheaper at h.dew with a genuine 3 year u.k warranty

Just ordered. Seemed to be a really good deal.

I was planning on keeping my old camera as a back up, but as I didn't have quite enough to buy it I'm going to sell.

I was just copying the link to send to a mate of mine and noticed it's gone back up to £1019.

Must have been an error on their part.

I'm happy though - picked mine up on Sunday.

wonder if they will honour the sales from the internet at the reduced price ???

@ Dave, you can sell yours now :)

I think when I first relooked at the link, it shows the price as £779, but the copy underneath was showing as out of stock.

This normally seems to be a standard get-out clause in situations like this where it looks like it's been a pricing error. i.e. We're very sorry but even though you placed your order, we have no more in stock and are not sure when we'll be getting any in and are issuing a refund.

As I say, I ordered mine on Saturday and picked it up in store on Sunday. And as the £85 cashback deal is a Canon offer, it looks like that will be honoured too.

Or £569 at e-infin. Not sure how long is their warranty though.

Unlike some, I don't have a massive problem with grey imports, but I think in this case, I've paid £125 more for a genuine UK supplied camera from a store that's less than two miles from my house.

To me that's not bad.

Had I been comparing £569 to £1019, then I think it would be hard to justify going to John Lewis for it.

Congratulations.
John Lewis are well know for advertising stuff cheap but not having any stock. I think they call it a "Take on".
