Just found this not sure if others have stumbled upon it too... seems pretty cheap to me - 16 GB card is not badly priced at £53 either! Hope this is of use !

Yep, according to CPB, Amazon are the cheapest for the 8GB cards.

Funnily, Amazon tells me I bought one of these back in March 2008 for £10 more!

I just bought a couple from there earlier tonight, it's a good price.
Although I suppose in a couple of years it will seem ridiculous. I can't bear to think what I paid for 32MB smartmedia cards in the past. Note... that's megabytes not Gigabytes!

These should start to fall in price as the newer UDMA cards become more prolific. The Extreme III (or the Extreme IV for that matter) won't be much good on the new Canon 7D for anyone who feels the need for an 8fps burst.

Tbh I thought the price was dropping on these very slowly and CF cards still seem to attract a hefty premium over SD etc. Because they are considered to be 'more professional' I'd guess as most amateur compacts and devices use SD.

Not so, CF cards are the most reliable, and it's a large margin, something like 60% over other formats.

Not so, canon's pro bodies take SD cards (as well as compact flash), I use SD cards far more than CF cards, mainly because my desktop 'reads' SD cards faster than CF cards.
