I enjoy Christmas (most of it), but with over 2 and a half months away I'm starting to think there should be a new law out. Shops should not be allowed to display anything to do with Christmas until 1st December :D

In John Lewis today. A tad early don't you think?

Killjoy!!!

I often start listening to Christmas music in Sept... this year its been a little late with today the first day! Time to get excited and start planning... also means you have 2-3 months to buy gradually. Also, as my parents live overseas they often come over in Oct/Nov so need to have presents ready for them to take home.

:agree:

October is far too early. November it also too early in my opinion.

I sing xmas songs in the summer :)

You can buy xmas present anytime of year. I just don't like it being rammed down my throat this early. My Grandchildren will start to get excited now but as the weeks pass the magic will wear off until a few days befor xmas day.

We've still got Halloween and Bonfire night to do :)

I think October is to late.....official celebrations should start in January:lol:

Used to be.

According to Wikipedia Tesco did well out of Dobbies. Acquired in 2008 for about £157 million, sold in June this year for £217 million.

They did invest a lot in the chain during that time too.

anyone that posts christmas pictures this early sould be banned :p

I went in The Range this afternoon :runaway:

I agree, it's the bloody shops that kill the Christmas buildup by starting it far too soon [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

I can't say I mind a bit of mistletoe :) nothing wrong with a good bit of practise for my lips ready for Christmas.

I love Christmas.

Early October is pretty late on the retail festivities timetable.
Tesco had a small scouting party of chocolate Santas on shelf in mid-August.

Still in date from last year no doubt......to test the waters so to speak. Eat them and more will come! leave them and the goal is achieved, however they are made from chocolate and they are so sweet...........I fear we have already lost the war! O well HAPPY CHRISTMAS everyone!

We're in the middle of an Indian Summer and people are being told to go shopping for Christmas.

I'd rather be out taking photographs

I'd rather be doing that whatever the day/date/month/season.
Christdaftmas is irrelevant.

The True Movies TV channel has been renamed True Christmas and is loaded with suitable festive fare ..........:eek:

Wont get any arguments form me whatsoever. The actual "christmas" is fine, its just the commercial, jump on the bandwagon 3 months too soon that gets on my t1ts. Aint gonna change anytime soon though I doubt so do my best to ignore it.
Imagine how bad it must be working in the retail sector and having to listen to the same christmas songs every day for weeks leading up to it. Poor sods.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to wish all members of TP and their relatives and friends and families, a happy Christmas. And I wish everyone glad tidings and seasons greetings and peace on earth to all mankind. And a merry yule log, and lots of presents and brandy butter under the mistletoe to you, me, and everybody with rosy cheeks and a one horse open sleigh with bells on.

Band Aid: "Do they know it's Christmas time?"
Humbug: "No! It's bloody summer!"

Were actually going out to get a Xmas tree today.

In my defence we're off to China next week for a while so won't have a lot of time left by the time we get back.

Today we started the Telegram* group to organise the "Big Christmas party".

*Telegram is like what's app, but better, as it reaches people without smartphones. You can continue chatting on computers and in browsers too. And allows you to edit or delete messages.

we were in Salzburg at the beginning of September and bought a whole host of new Christmas decorations from the Christmas museum (open all year round)!

Christmas cake being made tomorrow :)

I like Christmas so we tend to put the decorations up at my home at the start of December
I do agree though it's too early when they've got bits out in the shops now, I think after bonfire night is more than early enough to start putting Christmas gear out in shops.

When I come to power, Christmas shall be banned except for twelve days, starting from 7pm 24th December. Everyone will have twelve days off as statutory holiday. This will allow people to visit family and friends over the festive period as well as the new year. Any form of advertising or promotion would be banned until 24th December.

Aldi have Mince Pies on sale, holly on the box and everything...use by date, end of November.

Morrison's sell them year round.

Sod off, I already have 8 days including BH's, I can do without more, I'm still trying to use up days from the rest of the years holiday entitlement as it is.

I gather that these early BBE dates are for you to try them out before unleashing them at Christmas.

Then your annual leave needs to be reduced.
