Still looking for an option to control the 7Dii remotely but still think Im barking up the wrong tree. Don't want to look at the new W-E1 if at all possible as I shoot SD and don't want to lose the slot. Camranger is perfect but too pricey. Has anyone found a cheaper option that works with ipad/iphone or shall I give up hope again?

You could try the Alpine Labs Pulse. I've just bought one as a Christmas gift, so I can't comment on it's performance yet.

They don't have a UK distributor, so I ordered direct from the US, no extra delivery charges. Ordered on the 2nd, arrived today (9th).
The cost was £81.

You could try Miops. It doesn't fully control the camera but works a treat through an iPhone or iPad.

Holy thread resurrection Batman! Just wondered if you(or the person you gave it to as a gift) have any further feedback on this item? Tried a search to see if anyone else has used this item but don't seem to be able to find anything...

Thanks

It's a good device, very small and lightweight. There were a few glitches with the connection to the phone App, but an upgrade to the firmware solved that problem.

If it broke, I think I would buy the same again. It doesn't get a great deal of use, a good old fashioned cable is quicker for stills, but it's great for timelapse and other functions where control of the camera via the phone is required.
