Afternoon all

I ordered 2 LP-E6 batteries from 7 Day Shop and they are exhibiting strange activity in my 5Dmk3.

Basically, I charge the batteries fully, then put one in camera, and immediately the battery warning indicator starts flashing low battery - give it around 15-20 seconds and it suddenly goes to 100%.

Turn the camera off, leave it for a minute or two, and then it does the same thing.

It is as if the batteries need to warm up, then their true charge is displayed.

Both batteries do this

Any ideas?!

No real ideas, wonder if it's a trait of their batteries (as both do it) - whether it's something to do with the chip / compatibility of them or if you've been unlucky and both are faulty ??

I'd be contacting 7 day and see what they say...

Are you using the Canon charger ? Are they charging okay ?

Sorry, can't be more help...

Hi there,

I've got two genuine Canon batteries and 8 third-party and I've got the same problem with some my own third-party batteries. You might find that switching the camera off and back on again will do it. It's unusual, I know, and it shouldn't happen. You could also try sending them back and you've got a better chance of a full refund as they both have the same problems. As andyred said, it's probably a compatibility issue, and you might get that with a number of third-party batteries.

Interestingly, my 5D MK II has no problems with any of my batteries, but the 5D MK III is really fussy.

Hope you get this sorted one way or another, though. The best way to avoid the hassle is by buying the Canon genuine batteries, but who's going to do that at £50 a pop? Not me.

Ive got one of these and it does exactly the same thing in my 5DMKIII. In my 60D it seems fine.
I also find the charging lights in the charger are erratic, but if i leave it in long enough it seems to charge fully.

I dont find i get any less out of it compared to the genuine ones i have, but im not taking the risk with my 5DMKIII, so it stays in my 60D.
