I wanted to delete this post as the problem appears to have resolved itself just now but was unable to do so. Yesterday ,when I tried to show someone a photo on the LCD screen which I'd taken shortly before, it went blank as I turned the camera, which I was holding (ie not on a tripod), towards her It happened several times so not a one off. I happened some years ago in a hide and someone in the hide sorted it by doing something in the settings and I can't recall what he did. Anyone any ideas ?

Are you saying you can't see anything?

;)

Are you saying you are trying to show someone the picture just(?) taken but by the time you turn the camera to them the screen had gone blank?

Or that you press the preview button and doing the above and the screen goes blank?

If the first one you need to extend the preview time in the menu settings.

If the second, I am unsure because using preview is on all makes fairly reliable......though perhaps you are inadvertently pressing on the shutter button as you turn it round to show the LCD. The action of pressing the shutter(half way?) returns a camera on review to 'ready to shoot'.

HTH?

PS if I am teaching how to suck eggs.... Oooops! :coat:

Yes, That's right,Toni. I wrote about deleting it because I started the post and thought I better check and I turned the camera several times and the photo remained in view but yes..the screen went blank several times. As I mentioned, it's happened before in a hide .

Not teaching me to suck eggs, atall. Appreciate your response. Thank you. Yes, exactly that. Showing photos soon after taking them.

I hadn't thought that I might have pressed the shutter button. I've just tried it now and, you know what ? You might be right. My finger was over the shutter button on each of the three tries. It's the natural place to rest the forefinger as the arm outstretches to the viewer. So..maybe back in the hide those years ago all the chap did was to extend the review time because that was the problem then . It would have to be something common to all makes though as I recall that he didn't have a Canon.I think I was using the 1D1V but he said it's probably the same as his..a Nikon, maybe.

I have an 8 second review time set up which is the maximum time before selecting 'Hold'

I'll pay close attention to how I hold the camera in future. Sometimes it's the simplest answer. Who'd have thought it..well, infact, you did ....:D Thanks again.
