David, the manual is not the most helpful thing to read. You can pick it up and put it down as and when.

When I first got my 7D, I shot on Auto and let the camera do it's work. It wasn't long until I started to try different things and move on, but it took me many months to get the best out of using the different settings and a lot longer before I set any programs of settings.

Nobody can be expected to pick up a laptop and know how it all works. This 7D is in fact a computer that you will become in love with. The camera club will get you chatting to others who will help you. I found it invaluable.

Play the videos over and over until it becomes clearer. I did and it helped.

Today has been productive! I am quiet pleased wiith it now i think! The images are super sharp, all i need now is some software to process "raw" files............?
 
No i need to process them........... Im going to get lightroom, cant warrent the cost of photoshop!!
 
ah yes, PS is not cheap, im use to cs5 now, ive tried to use LR4 but just cant get my head around things there, heard good things about it tho :)

hope you get lightroom soon so you can get down to business, its a hell of a lot to learn if you have never used PS or LR before, you tube is your friend :)
 
Im going to get ot tommorow, going out tonight so tommorow it will be! Ten il need lessons on posting photographs here....

What's wrong with Digital Photo Professional that comes on the CD with the camera, it's what I use. You can then update to the latest version from the Canon website.

I didnt look at the disc.....? But i will stick with lightroom tommorow......? Or is there no need ?
 
Lightroom is streets ahead of DPP that comes with the camera - once you get you head around the edit/export system and spend a bit of time learning about the catalog.
 
I LOVE MY 7D!!!!!!!!! I Hate the manuak though! They need a short version
