Please move Mods if in wrong room. I posted my 7D off to Colchester Camera Repairs yesterday. I thought I would keep track of it and give an insight to people on here to their services.

17/10/2011 Sent RMSD @ 09.50
18/10/2011 Checked Tracking # online. Item delivered.
18/10/2011 13.00 Confirmation Email from CRS that they have the camera.

So far so good :)

rich whats up with the 7d mate.

Apparently it takes carp bird pics Scott  ;)
Internal flash will not work :( I read that the two microswitches can become stuck,as I had used the external one for a party one evening I thought that might have been the probable cause. Whilst I gently lifted the two spring clips up as suggested by someone online it still did not work. I refrained from poking the microswitches with a sharp pointy thing which was also suggested, so instead sent it off for repair and to have it serviced as well.

I used them a couple of years ago for a Canon P&S that then sensor had died on. Canon repaired it FOC under warrenty despite being around 5 years old then and Colchester fixed it in about a week.

Can't complain at all with that service, and it is still working now.

Loose nut behind the viewfinder would be my guess :D

Me and you need a little chat

Thanks for the reassurance Doug

Rich hope you get it back fully working and don't have to wait too long.

Doug

Well I got her back today 27/10/2011. Repaired and a full service including cmos adjustment. A total of £157.20.

Doesn't seem too bad, dependant on the repairs undertaken. Mine cost ~£190 to have the top plate replaced and a full service after it was dropped.

glad you got it back ok rich but thats pricy, how old is the camera. whats a cmos adjustment.

Cheers Scott, well as my other thread mentioned just the service from another company was over £200. It was a full service Scott as they go through everything and they took apart the head of the camera to sort the flash out as well. The cmos is the sensor Scott, I mentioned that I felt that at 800 iso and above my pics seemed to be a bit noisy compared to a lot of images I have seen posted on here at even 2000 and above. It might be me, so will have to see if I notice any improvement
