7D pop up flash problems...

I seem to be having some problems with my pop up flash on the 7D, when when hitting the little button to pop the flash nothing happens, has anyone had this issue?

I've checked the menues and flashs are active, I shoot in manual mode so shouldn't be a problem there, and stuck for what else to check?

Hopefully is something daft I'm missing as the camera is out of warranty

It may be the little micro switch on the hot shoe is stuck down, this would fool the camera into thinking an external flash is mounted, thus disabling the pop up.

If it is you should be able to pry it free with a cocktail stick or similar.

It's almost certainly that, had same issue which freaked me out and just used a kitchen knife. A friends 40d popup incidentally started working when he tried my 430ex2 which must of done the same thing after owing the camera for over year and it never working lol.

Check the hotshoe... I had the same problem. There is a little strip of metal that lets the camera know that there is a flash in the shoe... Just bend it up carefully. Did the trick for me.
