Back again for more advise, I have a works reward scheme where I can get an 80d which is handy as was considering an upgrade.

The only dslr available is the 80d which looking at the specs online looks as if it may perform better than the 7d mk1 I already have but wanted confirmation?

Love the 7 and have really had no faults with it bar its poor low light performance but thought I would ask if anyone on here has any real 1st hand experience using the two side by side.

I own a 7D Mk1, and have borrowed an 80D a few times as I was considering buying one. Noise performance is hugely better with the 80D, flippy screen is nice if you need that sort of thing, and the ability to recover shadow detail is almost spooky. Must admit that not being able to quickly wiggle my thumb and select a focus point really did annoy me far more than I thought it ever would, as it's kind of a reflex muscle memory action now from all the Canons I've owned.

Decided to hold out for a 7D2 personally, but I certainly have the 80 was an upgrade in most areas (although a downgrade in some - lack of thumb stick, didn't feel quite as solidly built) over a 7D1.

Thank you, what's the af like in comparison, where I struggle with the 7 is shooting drifting at night on the 7?

80D AF certainly seemed to behave better than the 7D in lower light - I didn't really tax it with anything moving fast in the dark on the occasions I tried one, though!
