So out for the first time with my 7D mk1 it’s a very dull day, it’s in AV mode with 800 iso set and the shutter speeds are coming in at like 2000 making my pictures really dim and gloomy? Anyone know of this issue? The camera only has 7k photos taken with it and it’s in mint condition so not sure what’s happening?

Any ideas?

Thanks

What aperture are you using?
Have you checked the safety shift setting?
Try full manual and see if the results are as expected.

Check what metering mode it's in first, also has a minimum s/s been set for appeture mode?

Check the metering mode, and always be aware what it is you’re metering.

it doesn’t matter what modes you’re using - you have to be acutely aware of what you’re metering, and what you’re focussing on.

What do you mean, dim and gloomy, under exposed or just a bit "flat", namely low contrast. This time of year in the UK they aren't going be as punchy as mid summer for instance, any examples?

Thanks for all your comments guys... But! I think it’s cause the LCD brightness was turned down for some reason! I shall upload my images tomorrow on my computer and see how they turned out! Im so stupid! Haha

Thanks all
Chilt

The LCD default mode is pretty good at what the actual image brightness is really like.
I have noticed a difference in brightness of the same image from my 7Dii screen, PC monitor, Laptop screen and smartphone screen.
All screens will show difference brightness on default mode settings.
