7D II or 5D MKIII pictures leaked?

ooo interesting first 3 look like a new 1 series (if it isn't an old one) and the second 3 do look like a new 5D or similar (it has no on-board flash that I can see)

I noticed that already - the 1 series camera looks like a 1D4 ??? Its the other camera which is of interest.
 
It looks very much like a 7D though. I was wondering whether this could be fake but looks rather too good to be so.
 
The 1D is the "1D X" I think (has extra buttos to the iv) still pretty sure a 7D replacement would have a pop-up flash.
 
Definitely looks like 2 cameras to me. Either that or Canon can't decide whether it's got one screen or two on the back. Pic 3 has a second screen on the back below the row of buttons and pic 6 seems to have replaced that with a grip instead. Maybe it's the 5D3 and the 7D2 with the same lens. Looks big compared with the 100-400 L though. And probably a lot more expensive.
 
First camera is a 1Dx I think, second one is something new - a high end body, with a detachable batt-pack and no pop-up flash, which suggests something to sit alongside the 5D2, or to replace it.
 
later shots look like a 7D replacement, same button layouts/on off switch etc - interesting extra joystick on grip for vertical af selection
 
Two cameras for sure - the first having a second LCD set and no dial on top.

I'm interested in image 5 - I'm trying to figure out what is on that LCD - the area to the right could be focus points, or maybe space for lots of modes??

Initially I thought the 5DIII, but now I'm not too sure - although loosing the built in flash on the 7DII would be an odd move.

I agree with the OP that the location (Kenya I believe) does suggest wildlife and by extension a crop (although the 5D does do a pretty damn good job), attaching it to the new 600mm would bring whatever it is pretty close.

That bottom picture has to be a gripped 5dmkiii, the 7d doesn't even need an upgrade.
 
Do people really use the onboard flash though? I would have thought that losing the onboard flash wouldn't be such a big deal - also considering that the 1DX is replacing the 1.3 crops wouldn it not make sense that the 7D line is now bumped up to be a more professional line? One of those characteristics seems to be no on-board flash.... Just a speculative thought.

But thats never going to happen is it - most people wouldn't buy a 1DX if a 5D with 7D autofocus appeared.

Gah... I'm turning into one of those people who go on and on about non-existent cameras that nobody knows anything about :thumbsdown:

The 1 series will always have a better auto focus than 5d or 7d
 
That second picture looks very interesting, certainly based on a 7D but with locking mode dial and a second joystick on the battery grip.
 
It's more likely to be a 5D2 replacement, as that is older than the 7D, it already has no pop-up flash, and Canon needs a high mp FF camera to sit alongside the 1Dx (1Ds3 is officially discontinued). 7D replacement can wait a bit yet.

Edit: but it could be anything, something completely new rather than a replacement. There's a huge price gap between the 5D2 (well under £2k) and the 1Dx (£5.3k). If I was to guess, I would actually go for a completely new high mp FF model to sit above the 5D2 at around £3k. In which case, they might want to give it flagship status and call it a 1D-? title.

Seems like the 2nd camera is missing its LCD protector cover doesn't it? That screen looks too big for it to look natural.

Also I don't know what you all think but I do prefer the styling of the 5D II over that thing if that really is the 5DIII.... I'm sure ergonomically the 7D -style design is better but.....
 
They are both going to cost a stupid amout of money when releasd anyway. So I'll take a look next year :)
 
I think it will be even more interesting to see what replaces these next models. The age of CSC cameras is sure to have taken even more of a hold and maybe these could be the last line of semi pro bodies.

Now that is fact! From what I've seen of prices it takes roughly a year after release to come to its final stable (cheaper) price, so I guess it'll be 2014 before I see a new camera - unless I try the 7D out again.
 
The screen looks to be more suited to video i.e widescreen which would suit the 5dMkIII film market.

It could just be me but it does look wider to my eye.

Strange that the guy that took the pics didn't notice that they were 2 different cameras?!?! He's likely got higher-res images than the ones he posted too :)

1DMk4 is not discontinued. They will certainly keep making it as long as there's demand, and it's usefully cheaper than the 1Dx.
 
Sorry - I thought the D and Ds ranges were being consolidated into the 1Dx.:bonk:

To be fair, Canon are a little vague about it, but the 1Ds3 is officially discontinued and the 1D4 is not. The new 1Dx speed machine is actually closer to the 1D4, which maybe explains the hesitancy, so my guess is that they'll see how it goes before making decisions.

The 1Ds3 wasn't selling many anyway, as the 5D2 pinched most of its sales. And the 5D2 is still selling well. There's a big gap for a top end camera, with high mp but not needing 10fps and huge battery, above the 5D2, RRP around £3k and settling around £2.5k.

The top end of the market has traditionally been served by two lines, and now we have the Canon 1Dx and Nikon D4 speed demons. The rumnour is that we'll see a 5D2 and Nikon D700 replacement, but I think they might both slot in two new models above them to fill the void left by the 1Ds3 and D3x.

Maybe... :D

I'd have thought it would be the 5, as there's no pop up flash on the gripped body and no silly modes on the dial.
 
I have no idea whether it IS 5D3 or 7D2 but one thing is certain. Nikon is bringing out D800 and D400 (or whatever) and Canon will need to respond. I think they are playing the cat and mouse game.

I hope they will demo it in Focus, but personally I feel the best I can expect is a second hand 1Ds mk3 bargain some good 1-2 years later, and 1Dx after another 5 years.
 
The first is a 1D X no question we know what it looks like as canon have been showing them around for weeks, the 200-400 lens on it is the news story here, first time I've heard of one out in the wild, so not long to wait for that.

The second is a yet an unknown model, and as said before with no onboard flash it's unlikely going to be a new 7D, so pick any number between 2 and 6 ;)

Sorry daugirdas but I just can't see Canon using focus on imaging to demo any new body, a major first quarter announcement would more likely to have been at CES or a special event somewhere first.

I don't know! They certainly won't announce it at Focus, but they might just before and have it there - a bit like they did with the 1Dx at the Islington show. Whatever the new camera is, it's imminent.

They could even have it with a new 24-70L Mk2, and they'll want to be shipping the 200-400 and new 400/500/600L super-teles pre Olympics.

Now those pics are out, sales of the 5D2 are going to be sluggish until things are clear...
 
CR hint at Feb 7th for both D800 and 5D3, not long to wait to see if they are right...

3d was going to be my off beat suggestion. There's still rumours around about a camera in that gap.
