Hi

I'm new to this site so bear with me if do things wrong.

I have 2 instances where my Canon 7D refuses to take any photos and comes up with "error message 34, turn camera off and on or remove battery and replace". Having followed these instructions occasionally the camera will work again for a while and then I get the message again.

Both times this has happened, I have been shooting outside, it has been fairly cold and have already been outside for at least 2 hours. I have tried using a different lens to see if that made any difference but it hasn't.

Has any one else experienced this and if so, did you work out what was wrong and how to correct it.

:bang:

Yes a genuine Canon battery and a canon 17 - 85 lens, the battery was almost fully charged and it had all been well until about 2 hours into the shoot when the weather started to get slightly damp. Ironically it only seemed to go wrong when I had the camera in portrait mode but that may just be co-incidence.
:(

Error codes between 30 and 39 relate to shutter malfunctions or communication with the shutter.

I'm struggling to think of anything as I've never heard of an "err 34" message before.....it could be the lens contacts on either the body or lens but other than that I have nothing to suggest except ring Canon or return to the seller if it's within warranty!!

Naturally it isn't within warranty. I took it to the camera hospital today and will find out on Tues afternoon how much the operation is going to cost me.

Thanks for trying to help
