Anyone else have any experience of this?

I have a 7D which was purchased new from Jessops in November last year and at the same time I bought 3x Sandisk 8GB cards (all from a reputable source), I intermittently get a CF2 error when shooting in burst which doesn't save any of the burst I have just shot or anything in the buffer.

The problem is not with a specific card as I've tried it on my 4Gb Sandisk (came from Jessops) so looks like an issue with the camera.

Is it a case of getting it back to Jessops for them to send away and get fixed or is it a known fault and something I can do?

Are those all sandisk extreme cards? There seem to be a few people having issues with burst modes giving errors.

I'd contact Canon themselves and talk to them first. Jessops will probably send it off there anyway or worse to a third party repairer. Will save time in the long run.

I occationaly had it & on my occation was not a Canon fault after speaking with Sandisk. They were willing to replace the cards if I wanted but recomended a full format and it shoul dbe fine. They have been since. Before the format I managed to recover the burst shots too using sandisk recovery disk.

Jessops will send it to there repairer who is third party and in them touching the camera make the Canon warranty void. I enquired through Canon as I had to get the 7D looked at due to a AF issue.

Hi Ryan
My 7d purchased last November had problem with any card (7 different ones) including sandisc started as an intermittent err 02 fault then became a serious cf error and I couldnt use the camera, It was returned last week from repair under warranty where they had to replace the whole cf unit.
Give the Canon main repairers a ring see what they think. Sent mine to Colchester camera repairs but they on about a 10 day turnaround Well mine was. The one at top of the Canon list may be faster (forgotton their name)
Good luck with yours
Lesley

Is that a fact? I am always under the impression that warranties are only void if the owner attempts or arranges a repair through an unauthorised repairer, surely taking it back for repair to the official Canon supplier you bought it from does not void your warranty with Canon.

Thanks for the feedback peeps, would be very surprised if Jessops arranging repair would void the warranty as surely any parts they replace would then be covered for a period as well ??

Will contact Canon on Monday :)

Which firmware are you using,

it says in the description of v1.2.5

Fixed a phenomenon in which there were cases where "Err 02" appeared when repeatedly shooting still images with specific CF cards.

I was having the same problem and this latest firmware update seems to have fixed it.

Fact...

Most Canon dealers will use one of the four authorised repair centres.

Jessops don't, they use their own who is not authorised by Canon and so making your warranty void.

Here is the link of the Canon repair centres from there website.

Sorry, but posting a link to a list of official Canon repair specialists does not substantiate the fact for me, I can simply not see what you say as fact actually happening, if that were true Canon would would no longer be supplying Jessops with their merchandise which makes more sense to me.

Right then, a quick update...

I've finally got around to updating the firmware to 1.2.5 on the 7D and was amazed at just how easy it was, I've always worried about updating firmware on anything incase you muck it up!!!

Hopefully wednesday will see some sun which is looking likely with the forecast so will be able to give a good try. Looking at the gumpf with the Firmware update the Err.02 should now be fixed :)

Fingers crossed and thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)

The firmware update on my 7D fixed this error for me.
