Yes
As well as all the excitement around the new Canon 5Ds there are a couple of xxx style cameras coming that look as if they are pushing into the xx territory, certainly the 760D.

I've just received this via emai: http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/re...ter_150206&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Eloqua

The 760D looks very interestng as a cross over with the XXD range.
WEX have it listed for £649
The one thing I liked with the 450D over the 40D and 50D was the size of the body and the weight, will be interesting to have a look at the size of the 760D body
Someone told me that Canon were also supposed to be releasing an 11-22L SWA lens as well but I can't find any info on it.

Kin eeeeeeeeell! £2799.00

It does have near silent autofocus. Anyway that's a thread hijack.

That's alright, people seem to be more excited by the 5Ds. And that is an expensive lens.

I'm still a fan of cropped sensor DSLR's because for me, as it's hobby I could never justify paying the price of full frame DSLR's.
When I upgrade I was going to consider the 7D mk1 but looking at the specs of the 760D I think it is too tempting for me to ignore.
I've always believed that Nikon had the advantage over Canon with using more cross-type point but it has never put me off sticking with Canon.
I'll be looking forward to some reviews on the 760D and also some photos taken with the 10-22 and perhaps a few L lenses.
Too be honest I can't quite understand why Canon have released the 750 and 760D, unless they are planning to phase out the 700D.
Personally I would say the newer APS sensor, image processor and more cross point sensors would sway me towards the 750D over the 700D for the price difference.
If I remember correctly I paid a similar price for the 450D kit to the one that WEX have the 750D kit priced and although that was back in 2008, the jump in technology is impressive.
Until I have seen the 760D I can't tell how the body size compares to my previous bodies and it does make me wonder if someone is looking to upgrade just the body as to whether they would opt for a 70D instead unless the size and weight difference is a swaying point which may eventually make the difference for me.
I do remember having a kneck strain problem with the 50D and either a 70-200 or a 100-400 lens attached and even an optech strap made next to no difference.

I read on another forum that the 760D is using a new 24MP Sony sensor does anyone know if this is true?
Would be amazing is it is :)

From Digital Camera World website..............Inside these two new Canon DSLRs is a new 24-megapixel sensor, which is made by Canon and features a new version of its Hybrid CMOS AF system.

I'd be interested to see a comparison test between a 760D and the 7D Mk2.

I'll be interested to see comparisons between the 760D and the 70D. They are making some claims to the 760D being for the more 'serious' amateur. I also think it odd that they are putting two cameras at price points close enough to the 700D and each other. It's a pretty crowded market of their own making.

Thanks yes that sounds like what I read
that's what I thought too I was surprised that they would be using a different sensor to the one on the 7D 2
I was planning on getting the 7D2 later this year when the price drops a bit but not sure now will have to wait and see how it all pans out

The 760d really is a game changer in Canon's lineup, almost certainly the 7dII's sensor (maybe tweaked too), a rear control dial and a top plate LCD.

I was going to be buying a 70D in 3 weeks time, Canon put a spanner in the works for me with 760D. Going to wait on some reliable reviews now.

I was getting close to getting the 70D too but, like you, will hold fire now. I prefer the smaller body option.

I also nearly clicked the buy now button last night on a 70d,
So is the 760d likely to be a better camera than the 70d?
I thought the xxxd bodies were classed as a starter camera?

I bought a 70D three weeks ago and with the Canon cashback it worked out about the same as the forecast price for the 760D, initially I was a bit cheesed off when news of the new camera came out but on reflection I think the 70D is a marginally better camera, and I don't have to wait until April.

I've not compared the specs of the 70D and 760D specs side by side and I expect the 70D's build quality will be slightly higher when it comes to the body / casing but that won't put me off the idea of buying a 760D

Yeah I wondered if they had Sony sensor, suspiciously similar mp count

Canon says that it's their own sensor, some sort of hybrid.

You do know that manufacturers are more than capable of developing their own sensor system with the same megapixel count as another one?
When the others release a 50 megapixel systems I doub't everyone will asume they are using Canons one as used in the 5DS :p

I don't know if the information was accurate but I did read that it was a sony based design and manufactured using canon dual pixel technology
the reviews will be interesting

There was a Sony Samsung joint manufacture deal I think on TVs?

And the new 24mp sensor seemed curious to me, and Sony upping production recently too.

I too have been wanting to purchase the 70D and now with the announcement of the 760D kinda gives me more options to choose from. Unlike some other members of this forum I like the larger camera body of the 70D as compared to my 550D. The build is better than the 550D or any of the current xxxD canon bodies. It shoots at 7fps vs 5fps of the 760D but the later has NFC which would come in handy from time to time. To make matters more complicated there's the price... The 70D can be had as a grey import four around £600 which makes it cheaper than the 760D at launch UK price...than there's the 24.2 mp vs 20.2mp

I have read that its a Canon sensor made by Sony ;) so canon branded.

760D looks the most interesting as per pete was hoping to get a 7d MK II this year but at half the cost the 760D looks good doubt the AF system will match up however so probably go for 7d MKII.

It will be interesting to see if the 24 MP sensor can match or better the sensor in the 7DMkII for noise and DR which is probably the best crop sensor that Canon have produced to date. The rest of the spec seems pretty decent. Canon seem to be producing a camera at every price point now. Wonder is these are going to replace anything.

Unfortunately these days any new camera announcement is judged on "the holy grail" of noise and DR to the detriment of the rest of the camera. The 5DS/SR took 8 posts before the ISO was mentioned.

Yes I was all set to go for the 7D 2 later in the year now I'm not sure
I prefer the controls of my 7D mk1 to my 550D so the 7D mk 2 is the obvious choice
but if the Sony sensor in the 760 has better image quality at high ISO then it will be a hard choice
