70/210 f2.8 APO Sigma

Good morning all
New purchase Nikon F4 with 70/210 f2.8 APO Sigma
All seems to be working well but just sent Lens away for a clean and checkover.
What I would like to know
Can this lens be used on a digital camera without doing damage to one or other or both ?

Yep. Any lens that fits the F4 will fit a Nikon DSLR

Not sure that is correct, the F4 will take pre AI lenses, meter in stop down mode.........

Aah, ok. I stand corrected on that.

But anything not pre AI should be OK?

That's my understanding, I know that my pre AI lenses work on my F4 although metering is PITA but they should not be mounted on F100 or F5 and Nikon
digital cameras as they may cause damage although I believe one of the models will take them, I do not know which one.

Yep. I think the digital that takes pre Ai is the DF

Worth noting that the 'lesser' digital bodies won't autofocus with lenses that don't have the motor built in. They probably also won't meter correctly with older lenses.
