70-200 F4 L canon lens

on the side of my 70-200 F4 L canon lens theres a switch for 1.2 m - infinity and 3m - infinity.i've been messing with this but not really sure about it ?

you use the 1.2 to infinity for close ups of 1.2 to 3 meters or more, for anything else you use 3m so that the focus isn't having to go all the way to 1.2 meters all the time.

It just limits the minimum focus distance, so for 3M+ shots the AF can work quicker as its working on a smaller range of distances.
