Excellent - Well to him!

You've every right to be proud Dad.

Well done to your son..... and you have very right to be proud....

You must be very proud. Well done man and boy :)

Fantastic, well done to him and you

Stunning pictures! Good coaching I guess! Well done to the young man!

I'd love to know how much input your son had to each of those photos? Surely to give him credit for them then he'd have to set up the camera on the tripod, get the composition right, dial in the camera settings, press the shutter then process the photos afterwards. If your 6 year really did all that then you should be a very proud father. I'd be very surprised though.

seeing as I didnt suck anyone in wiht this......your supposed to be shocked and ask why I would say that.. I then reply with.... because he is in three of them! :)

oh well... :)

Thanks all for the comments. Oliver will enjoy reading them when he comes home from school.

Oliver does set the camera up on the tripod, the composition is all his, he goes off and does his own thing. I do help him with the technical side but he knows that for most landscapes between F11 and F14 is where he wants to be and he shoots in aperture priority for most landscapes. Pretty much what a lot of adults do. He also uses GND's by himself and he is learning the technical side. He's only 6. The credit is all his.

Always one that wants to be negative
Right Susan!

Bonding at it`s best. A very talented young man.

Congratulations to the wee man.

I know how proud you must be.

PS

Love your shot of him in the lavender field

They really are great shots and fantastic that he's getting recognised like this. Best of all though, that you are both working together and spending time with each other, and that he so clearly loves and admires you.

Fantastic stuff, loved the article.

I can appreciate your pride and pleasure at spending the time together. I feel something similar when my son and I play in the same cricket team together, even if he's a far more talented cricketer than I. Discussing this and that whilst travelling to and from the game. Although I take photos of the matches more than play now, the pride I got of seeing him scoring his first 100 or taking 6 to bowl a team out is immeasurable (actually just seeing him walk out onto the pitch is enough for me).

Your son deserves all the encouragement the press et al are giving him, a very talented lad, congratulations. :D

What a cool wee guy. Will give you loads of chances to spend time together which I imagine is the best part.

Wish I had something I enjoyed so much at a young age!

Great pics too.

Children love being able to create things. When they create things that are appreciated by others, particularly adults, it gives them a great sense of achievement. This can only be a good thing.

Good job sir.

As much as I hate to be jealous of a child......:lol:
Great story and he really has got a great talent there - you must be very proud! (I know I would be)

 Well done Oliver!!!
Seriously well deserved.

You must be so proud Mark :)
I remember you showing us the hills in the mist shot* quite a while back on Oliver's behalf and I was amazed by what he'd done back then.
So not a huge surprise for me that he's getting some recognition for them, they're beautiful photos and as I said it's very well deserved.

* actually I think you showed us quite a few, but that was the one that stood out in my mind.

It's not too hard to teach kids technical stuff at a young age, they are like sponges for that, but having a creative or artistic eye is a not something you see very often.
Some pretty good shots on the article - really well done.

BRILL!

This story is amazing in so many ways, you should rightly be very proud of the boy. Oliver, when you read this - excellent work young man, keep it up.

Also amazing, you "love Canon" and bought him a Nikon, presumably so you don't have to lend him your nice glass :D

Thank you all again for the replies. Oliver is enjoying his 15 minutes. :)

This all started with a news agency I sometimes work for wanting to do a story on Oliver's work. Since it has been published the phone hasn't stopped ringing. I hope it gives Oliver the added incentive to carry on but when we go out shooting I am always mindful that Oliver is 6 and sometimes he just wants to take a couple of photo's and then explore his new surroundings, which is fine by me. It's just great to have him there with me.

I have worked for The Times and The Mail before so am a little jealous that Oliver had a bigger spread than me. ;-) He is being paid their normal rates and all this should be a very good little earner for him. We did say that it will all go into his trust fund but we now think he deserves to spend a little in Smyths this afternoon and the rest into his trust fund.

This afternoon will be a little uncomfortable for me. We will be on ITV's Meridian news with Fred Dinenage. I have a face that needs to be behind the camera. :-(

Edit: Tom, I use Nikon as well. One of our wonderful mods wrote the Canon thing when I was having a lot of trouble with Nikon. :-)

Thanks Kevin. The ITV's Meridian news will be going out on Monday at 6pm.It was supposed to go out today but they had a shorter show than normal and didn't want to rush the clip. Oliver had a great time at the studio Sangeeta and Fred were fantastic with him. We even got Fred to do the "HOW"

Great shot of your son Kevin. We bought Oliver one of those Vtech kid proof cameras at 3 and he loved it. I'm sure he'll love exploring those Welsh mountains with you. The times Oliver and I have are priceless.

Wow, that's awesome, both the story and the images. Well done, your right to be very proud.

Outstanding photos

You're rightly proud, and I am sure he must be over the moon too.
