Just starting to do a bit more portraiture and doing a lot of reading up. At the moment I have a Sigma ef500 DG super flash and two Yongnuo YN560's. I'm hoping to change my set-up to include two studio flash heads. Due to space restrictions I have been looking at the 6x7 hilite and probably a black bottle top cover.
So to my question : Would the two YN560's be enough to light the hilite? If so what sort of power would I need from them? Obviously it would benefit me if the recycle time on the Yongnuo's could be reduced by lowering the power.

I sort of know that the answer to whether they can do the job is yes, but that is mostly from reading various threads on forums, but without examples of pictures. Does anyone here use a set up like this? and if so what sort of results are achieved straight out of camera?

I think you need to try it Colin, and zero risk since you already have the YNs.

Sure they'll work, but there's a big difference between f/16 at ISO100 and f/5.6 at ISO800, at the power setting you need for fast recycle. 6x7 HiLite is really quite efficient.

Thanks Richard, I guess my biggest fear is saving for the background only to find I need to invest in more lighting to make use of it. It will be sometime away before I consider buying it (only just purchased the studio lights) A lot of playing/experimenting over the next few weeks, if I can get volunteers for sitting. Think my shutter count is going to take a sudden leap!
Still interested if anyone has shots taken with the type of set-up I've described.

Yes. I do this a lot.

Depends a lot on size of room and where you can position things but 2 X SB800 and 1 X SB900 give me nice results at f/11 ISO 200. Flash power anywhere between 1/8 and full depending on room etc.
