One of my plans for 2012 is to try and do a 52 weeks with 52 cameras film challenge.

I don't actually have 52 film cameras but I don't think I'm too far off and I figured I could always try and borrow some to make up the numbers.

I would quite like to start with the oldest and work my way through the collection chronologically. One of the oldest is a Kodak Junior Six-20 series II but this uses the now defunct 620 film,

Anybody have any ideas on getting some? Photo Supplies UK don't have any in stock at the moment. Are 620 spools the same size as metal 120 spools? Is it possible to re-spool 120 film onto the metal spools.

OK, a bit of Googling and I've sussed out that I can re-spool the 120 film, it's a bit of a faff but do=able.

Thanks Tricky

I've used that technique when i've wanted to use 620 cameras, works well. If you own cameras that have empty 620 spools still in them, then cut/file down the 120 film spool and use the old 620 spool on the take-up side; just remember to ask whoever develops your film for the 620 spool back.

Can I presume that a 120 spool could be used for the take up too ?

I always use a 620 spool as a take up, and file down and trim the 120 reel the film comes on. Just make sure you get the spool back from the lab when you get it developed.

I was thinking , if you dont have a 620 spool at all ?

Luckily I have a couple of 620 spools that I rescued from old folders,

I checked the Kodak Junior Six-20 for light leaks last night and there are some pinholes in the bellows but I figure as long as I rattle a few shots through it fairly quickly and shut the bellows between shots it shouldn't be too bad.

I tried the 52/52 last year, and failed miserably after a few weeks ! I just didn't have the time.

I wish you all the luck :)

Thanks Tricky, I've tried and failed miserably at various challenges over the last few years but it doesn't stop me having a go

It's better to try and fail, then to not try at all :D

I'm tempted to join you again this year... I still have my blog set up ...

hmmm...
