Hi all,
Just wondering who has the Canon 60d and what your style of photography is and what kit you have?

Mark

I bought one not long ago. I mainly use it with a Canon 70-200F4 non IS and a Sigma 50mm 1.4. I don't really have a style of photography, but I do prefer candid stuff, or photos of buildings/streets. My flickr is in my profile, but don't expect much :D

The reason for asking what kit and style of photography is to get a users view of what they use the 60d for.

There doesn't seem to be much discussion on this body?

A lot of people didn't bother upgrading from the 50D from what I read when I was looking around. It seems that people like myself, that had the 30D or older moved to it. People that had the 40D or 50D generally seem to move to the 7D or 5DmkII, or even higher if they had the dosh/inclination.

I don't think the camera really dictates what you shoot, unless of course you're a pro, but then chances are you'd go for a pro body. I've seen people doing wedding photography with it as a second body (using 5DmkII as main), wildlife, sports, etc.

There really doesn't seem to be a lot around about it as you say, but just look at info for previous bodies as it's just an upgrade, but as I say, others prefer the 50D body as it's more robust. My 30D feels far more substantial than the 60D and the 60D does feel a little more 'cheap' when you first use it. Also I found that you need to be far more accurate with the 60D over older versions as the higher MP is less forgiving with camera shake, etc.

It took me a day or two to get used to the layout, etc, as that's different to the 30D. Have a look on youtube as there are videos on there showing you what the 60D can do. The flash control is quite nice :)

I love landscape and old buildings. Also interested in modern farm machinery/vehicles.

Thanks guys for the feedback.

I don't have a DSLR and wanted to move on from a GF1. The 60d as a new body seems like a good choice but not really a worthwhile upgrade if you have a 40 d or 50d.

Um, I'm not sure I'd agree with that statement. I had a 40D before and the 60D (bar the change of body material) is a much better camera in several respects. It has a higher resolution (handy for wildlife), a much better screen, better high ISO capability and better, cleaner performance in the comparable ranges.

I've just upgraded to a 60D from a 1000D, wow what a difference!
At the minute I've only two lenses, a Canon 28-135 and a cheap Sigma 70-300. I'm planning on getting a Tamron 17-50 2.8 to cover the wider end of things as my 18-55 kit lens is being sold with the 1000D, and a Canon 70-200 f4L to replace the Sigma.
I like shooting all sorts, but mountain biking is a particular favourite and when I'm out on the bike I "try" and capture some of the great landscapes I see.

I think the 60D can pretty much handle everything .......

My mate have a 60D and he shoot all kind of stuff, from potrait to landscape etc. He haven't try sports but i'm sure general sports shooting with 5.3 FPS (i think) will handle the job without a problem.

Good feedback chaps..!

@ manualfocus-g, I am probably wrong about the 40d but from what I have read on the WWW it seems the comments are that it isn't worth the upgrade from a 50d..?

I think I am going to give it a try. For me, it's the 60d but thinking if the circa £400 difference in price for the 7d is really worth it for someone trying to progress? My thinking is invest in some good glass and aim for FF in the future.

I've just gone from the 40 to the 60 and was a bit reluctant at first. Mainly body material and fps concerned me but to be honestly i've hardly noticed it.

I wasn't keen on the idea of the articulating screen either but after using it I find myself getting angles on shots I might otherwise have overlooked or not bothered lying down on the floor for.

Very handy for macro or landscapes when I need to get down low.

Had a play with one fitted with a 24-70 L lens the other day and I noticed that when holding the body with my right hand and I moved around, I could feel some kind of looseness as if the lens was not attached fully?

Any ideas or is this normal on heavier combo's?

What are you getting to go with your 6D mate?
