why not? i'm merely expressing my opinions as you all are or is it only if we all agree with you?
Really?
Time to move on, but if people dont like the where others buy their goods then keep it to themselves or find a forum where everyone only buys uk goods if they feel they're on such a moral high ground.
I will state where i bought my camera i bought it with all good intent,i bought on price not because its legal/illegal as have no idea whether it is/isn't as many others do.What that has to do with anyone else i dont know

Memory's not a strong point:lol:

Or is 'if you don't agree with me, go somewhere else' an opinion? Because I'd see it as an order or an instruction.

An opinion would be 'people could ignore posts they don't like' its subtle but there's a difference.

Thats a suggestion, why sit in a room full of criminals? i wouldn't try and tell people where they should/shouldn't buy or where they should spend THEIR money but some of you seem to think you can,if i felt that strongly i'd go elsewhere or keep my thoughts to myself, i notice how you pick up on some points and and completely miss others

I got my 60D from currys, paid full whack at £600 odd for it but not too bothered to be fair, works spot on, all registered with canon and ive hammered the crap out of it, its already had its 600 quid of use already, 10k photos in a few months and id pay the same again to be fair.

Our mate got a second hand one and to be fair its not too shabby but its each to their own on if they want new or used gear i think.

if you are not bothered by second hand and its cheaper then for definate, go for it. :)

i have always purchased new things from either Jessops or currys

It certainly doesn't read like a 'suggestion'. Nowhere did I try to tell anyone where to buy from. My first post was a reply to your post telling people to get off the forum if they don't agree with you:)

Now it's a suggestion:lol:

While I'm not going to start slagging off anyone, it does seem that a lot of the people who moan about people buying from HK and therefore not paying VAT are professional photographers who then go and claim VAT back on essential business purchases and therefore end up not paying VAT....

NUFF SAID

Phil, We all pay taxes on our earnings the same as everyone else, but the point I was making is VAT specific and as you say, you don't pay VAT on purchases, but you seem damned sure you want to make everyone else pay it if they aren't a pro.

I take it all with a pinch of salt. No one is whiter than white, im sure everyone has done something that is not 100% legal at some point.
Kettle, pot and black come to mind when the "criminal" words starts being banded around.

A point of clarity, being VAT registered doesn't mean you 'don't pay VAT' it may mean you don't pay VAT on your purchases, but then you pay it on all your income, before you account for your expenses. And then you still pay tax on your business profits and then tax on your earnings too.

This not paying VAT lark is a right hoot. And why most small businesses keep below the VAT threshold and happily pay VAT on purchases.

I do apologise.

I made all my previous comments without realising you were 12. I thought we were having an adult discussion.

i thought i was sparing with an old woman that goes on and on and on...........

Agree i'm sure the phil's of this world aren't so squeaky clean as they might like to make out, they just like to make a song and dance about someone else getting something cheaper

Show me where I commented on the purchase?

No I don't remember doing it either:nuts:

I only commented on your extremely rude behaviour, which has continued ever since. Despite you trying to brush it under the carpet as a 'suggestion'.
And this isn't the first post I've had to remind you I don't care where you buy your gear from:bang:. But I do care about you trying to tell others what they can and can't post:rules:

That bad quoting, barely makes sense, is unrelated to your purchase and a point of clarity about what being VAT registered means, in response to another poster. It's often misunderstood by people who have never read the full facts (as it was by him and is by you).

Like I said - most small businesses avoid being VAT registered (so can't claim it back) because it's beneficial not to bother. You really did misunderstand that didn't you:cuckoo: On 2 counts::clap::clap:

Well done - so I guess you can't find any mention I made of your purchase - just your rude posting:razz:

There you go (again).

Your memory is really shot isn't it:lol:

You can't remember telling people not to post, then you can't remember having a go at me about purchases when I never even mentioned it.

Here's a tip for you:

Go back and read the thread, before you make any more embarrassing mistakes:thumbs:.

Or are they not mistakes and you're one of those people who think they can get away with outright lying:shake:?

Bear in mind that other people also have personality flaws too (mine's tenacity, in case you hadn't noticed:lol:.)

And other people will be reading the thread - and whilst I'm already known for being tenacious (and a bit of an ar se with it sometimes), we're learning things about you Pete:D

So you believe that the forum is a place where you should be free to discuss criminal activity, and that anyone who objects to that should find somewhere else to discuss it:cuckoo:.

I don't remember voting for this change of policy. I've got some fairly strong opinions myself, it'd be great to think that I can just ask anyone who disagrees to just shut up:thumbs:

So what criminal activity are you reffering to then? who's got the short memory apart from other things

I haven't got a clue?

Oh wait; What did I say about reading posts to avoid looking stupid?

So you believe that the forum is a place where you should be free to discuss criminal activity, and that anyone who objects to that should find somewhere else to discuss it:cuckoo:.

And I thought forums were a place for the sharing of opinions and knowledge, not somewhere we come to hear what Pete thinks

Phil has been on the forum for around 3 years, you've been here around 5 months, do you really think its your place to tell established members that they shouldn't be on the forum because they don't like the crap you write?

No exactly you haven't really said anything you just go on and on and on talking a lot of bull like and an old woman with dementia:clap::thumbs:

I have read his posts, as well as yours, and with respect, you have been childish and argumentative to anyone who has disagreed with your viewpoint that its ok to smuggle and evade tax and duty. While you might be happy to do so, it is immoral and gets people's backs up.

Could I suggest you take the opportunity to realise that not everyone likes boasting about this sort of thing and wind your neck in and be happy with your marvellous "deal" in private.

That way people who don't like your attitude won't be arguing with you about it.

You need to get your facts right, where do i say in my view to smuggle and evade tax is ok?? ive read many a post of people buying from hk without all the s++t ive had thrown at me,i didn't even start this thread about a deal but some clever ar ses have twisted it into a rather more heated debate which yes ive reacted to
I basically said a long time ago each to their own to buy from who they want, end of story but some couldn't leave it at that:bonk: IE YOU AND pHIL

You really do need to re-read that post. The 'don't know' was obviously a joke, followed by several examples of me saying exactly the same thing. None of which you appear to have read or understood.
It appears as soon as you see I've posted you write a response without actually reading what I posted, you've decided I'm a pc goody 2 shoes without knowing anything about me, or reading my posts.

If you'd read them you'd realise just how ridiculous you now look.
Have a pleasant evening.

I know plenty about you thats for all to see:lol: ive read all your avoiding the issue and question rubbish all day, you've picked on quotes but avoided all the questions and yes your right maybe i shouldn't have said you shouldn't be in the forum but it wasn't meant like that but i didn't make it clear as you kept going on about as you wouldn't answer the points or questions you avoided

What a fuss over buying a camera.

Obviously this bothers you more than most so I can only guess these HK sellers must effect you in some way and that's the real issue here.

I've avoided nothing.
I never mentioned your :gag::bang::bonk::baby: camera! Not once. I don't care about your camera so I'm avoiding nothing:cuckoo: And just to be clear; it wasn't me you said shouldn't be on the forum;) .

My first post was in response to you telling someone else they shouldn't be on the forum (an important difference).

For the FINAL time!

I don't care about your camera 'bargain' but I do care about your rude behaviour to people who disagree with you!

By my count that's the 8th time I've said that.

Evading the issue - not me not never:D, you accused me of disagreeing with you about it, and like I said I don't give a to ss! That's not evading, or avoiding, I don't care - never did, never pretended to, never mentioned it other than to say I don't care!

So once more on this for clarity:

:)I don't care about your camera:)
This is not a fuss about your stoopid camera - it's about your obnoxious attitude to people who disagree with you!! (9)

What more rubbish:gag: does a few comments upset you that much?
then you need a life
Read the title of the thread it started ok till you and your bum chum started with your "i know it all attitudes" and comments but then your pro's aren't you hence my stoopid camera.
No this isn't about a few comments, i've hit a nerve somewhere and you dont like it so cut the b******t
