Being a mongrel (English, Irish, Scottish and French blood that I know of), I have the advantage of being relatively neutral and having a younger sister, any real competitive spirit was drummed out of me in childhood.

Didn't really enjoy the first half of the Wales/Ireland match - far too one sided but the Welsh did make the second half a bit interesting.

Enjoying the England/Scotland game a bit more (so far!) with the score at half time being (IMO) a fair representation of the play.

I really enjoyed the England v Scotland game, fantastic advert for rugby and the result was just the icing on the cake.

The Wales game had me cringing, they didn't turn up for the first half. Second half, better but not clinical enough and lacked finishing, too many stupid mistakes. Ireland thoroughly deserved the win. A dubious decison with the Irish foul though, should've been a yellow at least. Wales got a yellow for a lesser offence.

Wales though have been in transition for a while and has to be said, some of the greats of the team are nearing the end. Another transition begins now under Gatland again and I think it will be a while before Wales are back to where they were just a few years ago. Time for new blood now.

I know the result of the England/Scotland game but I'm yet to see it.

Gatland needs to look at 1. AWJ. 2.Tupuric. 3 North 4. Biggar and 5.Owens ( and posibly Falitau?) and have the b*****k to say thanks for what you did but your time is over. There's a World cup only months away, Wales can't rely on has-beens and there were those mentioned who just were'nt up to it.

I’m that rare beast of a rugby fan that much prefers club rugby to internationals. I can take or leave the Six Nations. That said I did half watch both games today and enjoyed them, but yes, I agree, the old guard have had their time. Interesting times for rugby over the next year or two.

England v. Scotland was an excellent game.
End to end stuff.
One of the best games I’ve seen in quite a while.

Enjoyed both games today.

A close Calcutta Cup match and Van der Merwe's first try, even though there were holes in the English defence was one I reckon anyone would have wanted to make.

Wales did come back in the second half, but really they were outclassed.

Yup, the South African winger did well! That first try was a classic.

Pivac should have done this a few years ago. Unfortunately I think the world cup is to close for those type of changes

But at heart he wished he had been born here.

Were all the England squad born and bred within these shores?

Probably not.

ETA... Not sure what the answer is though. I'd like to see it passport based, possibly going back to the parents (but no further.)

Italy/Wales could be interesting!

I'm related to Joey Carberry, he was born in NZ - His mother [my 1st cousin] hails from Kildare, his Dad was a NZ native - Joey came to Ireland aged 11, and went through the school system here from there - it was there he started playing rugby [won many medals with the school team etc] - Nobody has ever questioned his Ireland position, so I guess it depends - if they spent most of their life in the country and started their rugby journey there, and at least one parent is a native, then I think it's all good.

I read somewhere that in India the England cricket team are known as The Rest of the World team.

I've no issue with it whatsoever.

Another good game this afternoon. Good to see Italy doing well after so long looking after the wooden spoon.

Dave

Ireland, just a class act at the moment.

Scotland, too good for Wales and silly Welsh mistakes again.

Missed the Ireland v France game, will probably watch it later, but just finished watching the Scotland v Wales game a bit twitchy at the end of the first half but a much better second and a record win.

Following Scotland I’m twitchy until the final whistle goes.

I watched the Ireland France game.
High standard from both teams.
Ireland justify their ranking IMO.

Enjoyed Ireland/France and the first half of Scotland Wales but Wales seemed to have left their first half spirit in the changing room.

:plus1:

They just weren't there . They have a long way to go. Not long ago, they couldn't lose, now they can't win.

Very proud of the Irish team, we don't excel in many sports but I feel they can keep up with the best in the world in the rugby at least. If only the football team were near as disciplined/hard pushing

England won OK but the first half performance tailed off so they will need to do better against stronger teams. Ireland played very well and must be favourites for the Trophy, if not the Grand Slam.

2nd half Dan Cole and Mano T looked their age.
Team looked better this week though.
I can't see them beating either France or Ireland.

Can rugby players actually srike, as suggested by some Welsh players this last week?

That said, after the last 2 games, I thought the Welsh team already were on strike.

Well, a 40 minute weekend, anyway!

As for the striking, I can see their point - why risk losing out on the rest of the domestic season through injury for little or no reward? Not such a big problem in the (good old?) amateur days when the players generally had "proper" day jobs but a major consideration now.

Not sure anyone was expecting Italy to be just one score behind Ireland at half time!

...Or for that to be quite so squeaky bum! Great defence from England seemed to keep Wales moving backwards when they (Wales) had possession.

Enjoyed both matches so far this weekend, just hope that tomorrow's game is as entertaining (and that we're back from the bike show in time to see plenty of it on +1!!!)

Missed both games yeasterday but I did see the Wales v England highlights. Seemed like a good game. Sadly, another loss for Wales, they just aren't gelling.

Missed the first 10 minutes or so (on +1) but saw enough of the game to enjoy it, making it 3 out of 3 good games. Apart from the 2 early red cards which are never good to see.

Italy need to stop celebrating losses ... they have massively improved over the years and time to focus on actually winning games now. At their best they have the beating of Wales and should give Scotland good go in their last game

Yup, a few years of apprenticeship, now they're ready for the journeyman stage!

Although TBH, the loss was worth at least some celebration - that performance could have beaten some national sides.

Wee break from the six nations this weekend, means I get to attend an Edinburgh game with battle hardened fans, up against Leinster, that’ll be an uphill battle. Ah well, some you win, some you………………..

That's my province, Leinster, so will have to shout again you on that one :D

Yesterday's game was a bit more entertaining!

I did record the England match but as I now know the result, I may not watch it. I rather feared that England might lose but by about ten points not fifty. Well England are away to Ireland next week so the outcome may be similar. Ireland and France were favourites for the World Cup before the 6 nations but it is even clearer now. I will have to commiserate with a welsh friend.

Dave

Nice to see Wales get a win but I'm not getting excited. They played ok but for a few handling errors by Italy, it would've been far closer score wise.

Whilst the rivalry with England is fierce and me being a Welshman, I could laugh at England but in all honesty, I think it's quite sad that 2 such proud and good teams in Wales and England have hit rock bottom.

The only way is up.

Even though Ireland have been impressive and are expected to do the Slam - I still think England will put it up to them as a matter of pride, it's always a fiercely competitive match no matter what's at stake. I still expect a bit of a war!

A good game and Scotland played well and were a bit unlucky to go in at half time 1 point down but the Irish showed their class in the second and were the better team on the day and deserved the win.
