With 6 hours free, starting in Wrexham, where would you go for a day of landscape photography?

I've ended up with a day off, permission to go take some photos from SWMBO and the only restriction is doing the nursery pick up and drop off. I want to try and make the most of the day and bag a few good images.

Any suggestions for where to try?

Llangollen is a bit of a dump to be honest. There's Lake Vynwy. Betws-y-Coed (sp?!) is prettier. Think you can pick the A5 up from Ruthin way to go off to Betws. Around Llandegla on the A525 there is some forest and the road itself is in some very pretty surroundings. On towards Ruthin there's lots of forest. Erdigg is outside Wrexham too. Can't remember what that looks like. There's also the highest village in Wales Bwlchgwyn which is on the A525 out of Wrexham after Coedpoeth. There's a stopping area. On a clear day you can see miles and miles.

There's quite a few places. If you venture up the A483 and onto the A55 there are a few seaside places too. Llandudno is probably the best as isn't too far and is reasonably pretty.

Bit further south than above suggestions but Tan-y-bwlch is a great area with waterfalls and lovely landscapes

Thanks for the suggestions. Tan y Bwlch is an area I've never been to so may give that a try.
Cheers, Matt

If you like big waterfalls, Pistyll Rhaedr, between Oswestry and Bala is well worth a visit.

As well as taking the inevitable "slow water" pics from the bottom, it's worth taking a walk to the top for some fantastic views.

i pm'd the missus about the waterfall - she'd been there when she was a kid 11/12 yrs old and always wanted to go back but could never remember - so THANK YOU chris, you've made the missus a very happy woman ! and now Ive got to take her and the dogs there on Saturday lol, should be great as ive not done a proper water motion shot. :)

Cheers Chris!

Thanks for all the suggestions - ended up going to Ogwen Valley and having a walk around Llyn Idwal, great day for being out.

This was probably best of the shots

That's a lovely shot Matt - beats sitting in the office in front of the laptop!

Enjoy your day Carl - the cafe is well worth a visit too - I enjoyed the best ham, egg and chips I'd had for a long time.
