Hope this is in the right section
:help:
Could any of you knowledgeable lot point me to where I can find any hints@ tips on using the 5D mkII, I know there's pages upon pages in the 5D owners section but to be honest it's seems to be full of people singing it's praises 'and why not' but not a lot of help.

'Hints and tips' is a bit vague! What in particular are you wanting to know?

Cheers Tim although Rockwell seems to just 'review' but will read it more closely....

Yep I suppose your right Chris but sometimes users over time find the pros and cons of their camera and maybe that's what I'm looking for.

Is it normal for the camera to make a 'clunk' when activating live view?....Just one of many questions I'm sure is out there.

if you have used a dslr before then the 5D2 is no different

there is no hint or tip to using a specfic camera

the way to use the 5D2 is to set exposure, point and click :|

Yep, I've used one before, even an 'SLR' and sometimes used shutter priority....WOW .

Thanks for the input especially your answer to the live view question

Ah right, got it. I'm trying to think of any for the 5DII, but I'm struggling to be honest! All of the tips and tricks that will really make a difference to photos are to do with technique, and post-processing really, the camera itself will just do exactly what you tell it.

What I was amazed about was the ISO capability, but I'm sure you've already found that out.

And yes, the clunk is perfectly normal. Just the mirror getting out of the way :)

The biggest learning curve is if you start using the video on it. There are whole web sites dedicated to that.

The main thing I noticed is the high resolution it has. Which is great but shows any flaws in technique. Just means I concentrate a bit more now than I did with the MK1.

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies and maybe I'm looking for 'shortcuts' that aren't there.

Chris thanks for the assurance of the 'clunk' it is a little bit of a noise but should have worked out it was the mirror lock and 'Yep' the iso is fabulous and with very little noise

Robert, I think you may have hit it on the head.

"The main thing I noticed is the high resolution it has. Which is great but shows any flaws in technique. Just means I concentrate a bit more now than I did with the MK1"

Think I may have fallen into the silly trap of thinking better camera = better image, when we all know it's not necessarily the case :bonk:

Thanks for the heads up Nigel

The mirror goes up in live view so of course it will make a noise.

Chris as already answered my question but 'of course' thank you also POAH
