Yes
Are canon finally feeling the pinch and reducing prices rather than doing cash back promotions. Both the body and kit lens have been reduced in price again by jessops and the 7D has dropped as well.
I bought a package after the august price drop and got a body made in april and a june lens, which I thought was strange given the fact that the have been several occasions when they have been hard to get and out of stock.
So have canon been holding back and do you think they are clearing stock as the lead in to the mkIII even though all the rumours say its still a while away.
will it drop further before xmas?
what do you think.

Maybe the upcoming announcements (amongst other things) will be for a mk3? Historically, the pricing of outgoing models has dropped before the incoming models are announced...

currency fluctuations

Could well be currency related, Pentax prices have very recently dropped too

And yet prices for the grey importers seem to have gone up. Not two weeks ago Ef 24-70 was £925 and now Digirev are doing it for £1059???

The bank teller says, "Fluctuations."

The Asian man replies, "Fluc you white guys too!"

It's headed in the right direction... keep going!

Could be new models coming on stream, exchange rates or stocks starting to recover after the earthquake, and the manufacturer is hoping to make up some lost ground? Could be a combination of all three? We'll see what happens.

i read about 5d mk3 a while ago in one of the photographers magazines..... basically debaiting whats is going to be different???? and what can they upgrade on it????

Could also be that Japan is starting to recover from the earth quake and production has restarted. Also the pric of oil has dropped latly so importing is cheaper.

Or a combination of everything

.

How do you tell when the body and lens' were made? I'm guessing markings somewhere?

Just bought my 5d2 and 24-70 last week, now I feel I NEED to know when they were produced!

use this: "check the manufacture date, on the box the Serial Number will start (21) XX are the next two digits, 28 onwards were 2011 made bodies, 28 in Jan 2011. 29 in Feb etc etc to 35 in Aug 2011, so make sure you are not getting an oldie that has been sat in storage for ages,"

lenses I assume you know how, if not say

so tell us when they were manufactured

Thanks for that. I'm ashamed to say I don't know how to check the lens either!

I checked the cam tho and it was 21 35 so looks like an August model, happy days!!

So, errr, how do you check the lenses?

Can you run Nikon lenses on the 5d mk2?

With Nikon dragging their feet with releasing a decent video slr I've been considering adding the mk2 to the D700.

Yes, but you obviously need an adapter. You will lose AF, VR and auto aperture control. Not sure if this matters or not for video work...
