5DIV RAW files not viewable in W10??

Does anyone know why I can't view RAW files from a Canon 5D4 in windows photo?
Never had a problem with any other cameras RAW files!

do you mean as a large icon in an open folder in explorer?
if so, this is the same with the 7D. The codecs aren't included in the windows build and the codec pack that canon users used to rely upon cannot be installed on w10.

You could use an external programme such as Faststone Image Viewer (Google is your friend) which is free and usually works even when Windows/Adobe do not.

Usually you can see the images, but not with the 5DIV
I open with windows photos to do the first cull before transferring to Lightroom

so is it a case of finding a new program as mickledore says?

you can use irfanview thumbnail viewer, free and efficient.

I can't recall if there is another solution off the top of my head.

actually the 7Dii files now show up for me in explorer but I know that they didn't do so upon installation
try installing http://www.irfanview.net
the program AND the plugins
all free and very reputable.
see if that helps at all.
