Excellent news - now I know its massively short on the price of a grey, but at just over £2800 delivered at Martins and a couple more having now broken the ridiculous price fixing thing Canon did for release its at last heading in the right direction.

Seems the Mk2 version are still holding their (high) prices on the used/second-hand market, surprised their prices haven't fallen lower.

Well I suppose that for 9/10 types of photography the Mk2 is still the most amazing camera and not feeling dated in any way. Just wondering but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's 'new' sales figures are still very high.

I'm not familiar with Martins. How do we know these aren't greys? Is Martin's an authorised seller? They are not listed on the list of Canon Authorised E-Tailers.

I got them from CPB and I've not known them list greys - their site also as UK retail all over it - not that I've dug deep so guarantee nothing.

Have a look at this thread, http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=256332.

Also, if you look at the warranty section on their website it is slightly ambiguous and doesn't mention manufacturers warranty only that defective goods will be repaired by Canon and Nikon authorised repair centres.

If I was going to buy an import 5Dmk3 I would buy it from Kerso though, oh hang on I already did! ;-)

Proper Canon supported 12 month warranty with his invoice and his price is better too (£2639)...

Yes, Kerso is very good - in many ways it wasn't anything about the price itself, or the retailer - just hat prices have now started dropping so it can come down to a more pocket friendly price rather than the £3K it was previously fixed at.

But if the reduced prices you are seeing are for grey imports like Martins or Kerso then the prices aren't really dropping are they?

Kerso has been selling for around the £2640 mark since the beginning and I think there was another I saw at the £2750 mark.

Once the main retailers start dropping the prices I think that might be a more valid time to post about it.

Who were the others you mentioned in your original post?

I don't think it is dropping yet. WEX are still at £3k, as are other UK sourced stock. The grey market is still the cheapest option by far.

Also, I wouldn't say that the price was 'fixed'. It's just simple supply and demand on a new product.

Its bugging me now - but I'm sure I read somewhere and damned if I can find it - that when it was first released the price for retail was fixed and in addition they were not allowed to throw in freebies.

Like I said though I cannot prove it.. grr...

Oh, if you don;t trust Martins then theres UK Digital - VAT registered etc at £2,849

I still can't understand how you can have turnover over the VAT threshold, be UK based and not charge VAT.
I've asked on a couple of threads and still no reply from Kerso.
Look past the price, and ask how it's done....

Same accountant as Jimmy Carr???

I know what you mean, but it must be legitimate loop hole or I doubt that he would have been in business for so long.

The other alternative is that he keeps his overheads to the bone and doesn't ream the profit. Who knows?

I'm still awaiting the mark two to get a bit more affordable an then I'll pounce!

Does anyone think it will get to £2k, cant justify more than that and this is still well over where the bottom mkII hit.

Uk stock, grey market. As long as they have UK receipt and warrant from Canon and is made by Canon in Japan then it's the same camera.

I'm getting it cheap.
I'm getting warranty.

Who the 3rd party retailer is I am really not fussed.

Getting close on the grey market, thats about where I want the price too, then I can sell a few bits and get one, until then I'd have to sell too much.

£2,299 on digitalrev.. ok, so whats the catch? Not uk stock, so no UK warranty I presume.

And shipping to the UK is included in that price.. you get a hit on the customs duty then? Whats the catch guys.

My mate just got one from onestopdigtal £2300,del by DHL no extra taxes to pay.

Not sure how he stand,if the camera go wrong.

Either pay Canon to fix it in the first year or send it back to HK for repairs.

That's via their ebay outlet (where you risk import duty too), via the website its local repair, but confirm that with them first to be 100%

Edit: sorry I thought you were talking about DigitalRev

Anyone heard of these guys?

Listed at £2,499 and UK stock and a 3 year warranty. Might be grey market with a Mack warranty. Called their number but went to voicemail.

Yes

If you have a look in the suppliers section, a good few reviews about them.

Not sure about the warranty, I believe the extra 2 years is with them. Might be worth an email / call to Canon to confirm if the initial 12 month warranty is covered by Canon as HDEW will supply you with a UK invoice.

There is also Ian (Kerso - flashcamera) on here is well worth a look at

That looks like a bogus site.

HDEW cameras is: http://www.hdewcameras.co.uk/

The URL you linked to is hosted at rtrk.co.uk and has a different customer phone line. Beware.....

May have underplayed my remark. Excellent observation. Some cowboy establishment I am sure.

Called up the real HDEW Cameras and they have confirmed this is grey rolling stock. They source the product after the purchase is made. The 3 year warranty covers 1 year with Canon and 2 year third party.

If you are going to go "grey", HDEW are extremely reliable and their 3 year warranty is an added bonus.

Where is HDEW stuff sourced from, anyone know?

It's grey market...I think Hong Kong. I bought my 70-200 from them excellent service. Plenty of positive reviews on here for them if you search..

Just done some digging and found some interesting stuff. Thanks.

Looks like we are heading the right direction. I do struggle why you would risk a warranty issue to save a couple of hundred quid when shelling out 2 grand?

£2695 for UK STOCK now prices have tumbled in the last week
