Greets all,
To be honest there is probably no real point to this thread apart from me sharing my excitement about finally being able to get the wife a nice new 5DII at the end of the month (I will get her hand me down, a 50D).
We have just got our first L glass which was a 24-105 and a 70-200 f4 IS and are now in the position to get the 5D with a budget of £1600. This gives us the option to buy new if we want to. Do we really need this kind of quality? Are we professionals? Of course not, but I'm sure all of you can understand just how excited we are.
The wife is currently doing a two year course in photography (hence the reason she gets the good kit) and I plan on taking my photography to a more serious level upon my return from Afghanistan.
She wants to eventually go into the portrait photography industry so I think the above kit will do that job fine whilst we carry on up the steep learning curve of photography. We started this adventure with kit 1000D's back in December and have been hooked since. Not sure if the bank balance likes it though. A professional I know once said to me "if you are serious about this game then buy the good kit first, you will only keep craving the next upgrade if you don't". From our personal experience, he was right!
So, how many of you can remember when you got your first "dream" bit of kit? Were you like me, a child waiting for Christmas morning? !!
As I said, not really an interesting thread but in the Army I am unable to share my excitement of what photography equipment I am getting next. My mucka's just look at my like I'm a) a freak or b) a geek
Regards
Jon
