Considering the 5d3 as additional body and wondered how people rate the AF tracking/speed. Mainly shoot landscapes so it is not a huge issue for me, but just wondered how it compares to say the 7d1 and 7d2.
Also has anyone that shoots mainly landscapes and gone from a 5d2 to a 5d3 noticed any other notable advantages eg dynamic range etc (HDR facility, extended battery life and similiar MP don't sell it alone for me).

Though my 5D3 has now taken a back seat to Olympus kit ;)

I originally upgraded to the 5D3 from the 7D original......................in all ways the 5D3 was streets ahead of the 7D ~ in AF, lack of noise, clean straightforward PP'ing of the files (more reminiscent of the 40D) etc.

I gather from the reviews that the 7D2 is much better than the 7D but or should that be so, for your primary usage of landscapes I would say with the 5D3 you cannot ask for a better body of that previous generation :)

HTH ?

It's ok for af but I find tracking of say speeding dog towards camera behind expectations. Same for FPS. Only 1dx could do much better....

For landscapes it's absolutely fine and miles above previous models considering it actually has weather sealing and will survive a lot of s***. MP may be similar, but it resolves a lot better due to far less aggressive sensor smearing filter and newer processor. The real HDR facility is lightroom, so technically it has as much Dr as you may ever need
