5D3 and which other?

Honestly speaking, even before i enter this thread to read one i saw that title i immediately said and thought about 1DX, this body is hard to beat, actually the only 2 negatives with this body is the price and its lower mp than most new FF cameras, but it is a fast camera and a rigid body for weather-sealed so i can't think about anything else even that 7D2.

Decisions, decisions!

I was beginning to think 7D2 was the way to go for the reach, burst speed and AF. Then there was a negative about its low light capabilities.

1DX would be nice but it's heavy (and I already struggle to meet carry-on weights on flights) and I can't justify the cost to Management. She's patient, but not that patient!

If you want all that the 5D3 gives you now and aren't too bothered about FPS then another 5D3 or 6D. If you want the same and FPS then it's a1DX. If you are prepared to compromise on high ISO but want FPS then a 7D MkII is worth a look.

5D3, 6D & 7DMkII most similar to yours in terms of layout. 1DX is a bit different.

I had a 5D3 & 1DX set up and then traded the 5D3 for a 7D MkII. MkII didn't work for me with wildlife as I preferred to use a converter on my 500 and the 1DX rather than the bare 500 on the MkII. The MkII just didn't give me the consistency I was after in image quality especially as the ISO started to rise.

But many are very happy with the MkII and producing some lovely images. I couldn't get past the shortcomings of it compared with my 1DX . I know people say it is unfair and pointless comparing cameras that are so far apart in price but when that's your other camera that's what you compare it against.

Unfortunately you only have these 4 to choose from. I'm waiting now until next year to see if Canon bring out a 5D4 or a replacement. If not I'll buy either a 5D3 again or a 5DS.

6D & 7D MkII are bargains at the moment as imports though.
 
5D4 had crossed my mind but if I wait for the next whatever then I'll never get anything...

I think I'm edging towards a 7D2.
 
I have the 7D2 and the 5D3 - had the same dilemma but in reverse as I got the 7D2 first.
I eventually decided to cover all options by having 1.6 crop on the 7D2 and full frame option with 5D3. Best of both worlds and offers so much flexibility. They are both superb cameras and a great combination imo.

Thanks for all the suggestions: appreciated! It's decision time and, much as I dislike US imports like Halloween and Black Friday, I'll see what happens to prices on 27 November and buy a 7D2 then, if they hit a low, or wait to see what the usual low-cost sources are asking if not.
