Had the 5 for just over a week, only taken a few pictures. every time I pick it up the battery is flat.
Im used to having a camera that turns off when not used, I keep leaving it on:nono:

Question: is there somthing im missing can you get it to auto power down??

Frustrating every time I want to use it the battery is flat:bonk:

All help welcome

Pete

I leave my cameras on all the time to power down, so they're ready to go when I pick them up. Have you checked the menu settings?

I'd imagine it's much the same as the 20D? Auto Power Off options range from 1 minute to 30 mins or OFF. If it's the latter then you have continual power and it will run your battery flat in no time.

I set mine to 1 minute.

I'm sure you'll have the options

First item on the yellow menu screen... Auto Power Off.

Don't you use the off button to take the CF card out?

I don't. The camera powers down when you open the battery door and powers up again when you close it.

Nope, the CF is a solid state storage device they are bullet proof. I have put one in the washing machine before today and it worked perfect after (by mistake of course)

Today will be my first real day to play with it so things should be good.
