I've just switched system from weird old Sigma to Canon 5D and so have no legacy glass. I snap portraits, people & sometimes things. Not landscape or sports.
Although I had a zoom (24-70mm f2.8) on the crop body, I very rarely used it. My go to lens was a Sigma 50mm f1.4. And, I was looking forward to the Sigma 85mm f1.4 hitting the shops.
I'm used to fast lenses and low iso but perhaps don't have to worry so much with the 5d? So, start with the 85mm f1.8 which will be similar to my 50mm on the crop body?
Or shall I start out with a 24-135 and see what focal lengths I tend to use and get a matching prime or two. What think?
Btw, I'll be buying used so don't mind a bit of experimentation.
Many thanks.
