I have just got back, my 350 from getting fixed (second time) and I wan't to use it as a backup.I am thinking of getting either 5D Or 1DMK111,my Question is, should I wait for the reviews on the 1DMK111 (which has enviremental sealed & 10fps)but no fullframe sensers or wait for 5D upgrade, which is a proven Winner, with fullframe sensers and 12.8 megapixel, but without enviremental sealed and10fps. ????????????

Two entirely different animals . It really depends on what sort of photography you mainly do. Have a look at this thread which discusses a lot of the issues although it's 30D versus 5D.

CLICKY

I wouldn't bother waiting for the reviews on the 1DMK3 -you can rest assured that along with all 1 Series cameras it will be the nuts.

How can it be a proven winner when it hasnt even been announced/released.

I think you need to ask yourself what kind of photography you will be doing because you are comparing two very different cameras with eachother.

King.

I went from a 300D to a 5D and considered the 1DMkIIN. for me it came down to one thing, I didn't really need the speed of the 1DMkIIN. I haven't looked back, love the 5D the colour and depth is superb. I even know a 1DsMkII user who thinks the 5D sensor is better due to being less crowded with pixels :naughty:

Thread killer

Ditto. Also the ISO performance is superb, those wide angles are WIDE and the IQ is OOTW (out of this world - just made that one up :D ). Who needs more than 3 FPS anyway ? Not proper photographers anyway :bat:

wait for the 1Ds mkII to be replaced then snap up a 1Ds mkII.

Thats my plan and i'm sticking with it :)

I'm teetering on the edge of falling for a 5d as a replacement for my 20d

I've looked at the 1ds mk2n but it's really more than I can justify and a fair bit heavier

cling on to the edge a little longer - Canon's next release is summer (ish) time........ i have everything crossed that the news is good :)

Well I've got a 5D and am thinking of getting a 1D MKIII N to complement it rather than replace it as they cover different areas.

Landscapes and portraits - 5D
Motorsport & Action - 1D MKIII N

For general use the 5D is fantastic, all I need now is a little wider ;)

Yep - you're not using the 5D properly until you get yourself a 16-35 or 17-40 :D

Totally agree with CT, Any 1 series camera doesnt need any introduction, They are proven to be the best cameras that Canon make hence the high price tag and the name Pro Body..;)

5D or 1D should be a pretty easy decision. They both seem to have cornered a corner of the market and with good reason.

The image quality of the 5D never ceases to impress me and is quite a way ahead of the 1D II. The 1D is the daddy though in terms of ruggedness and speed.... and that's not just fps. The lightning reactions and positive feel of the AF are actually far more impressive and useful (to me) than the 8 or 9 frame rate.

(Canon models only used for comparisons in the post. Other camera makes are available.) ;)
