Many apologies if this has been done to death at some earlier stage, but I have recently purchased a brand-spankers 5D MkII & was wondering what settings I should factor in?

For instance, on my 50D I was advised to turn off ALO, NR & HTP from the custom menus etc etc.

Would these settings still be applicable to the 5D?

Many thanks!

I turned on ISO expansion to enable ISO 50 (L on the camera) and also changed a setting to do with the autofocus points but can't remember for the life of me what it was called!

Depending on your style of photography, I would get some pictures under your belt and experiment to see which settings suit you.

Congratulations on your acquisition.

I agree. The 5D is so customisable you can make it completely your own.

On mine from memory I have ISO expansion, autofocus outer point thing and back button focussing only.

As J4MIE_P said Iso expansion, and rear focus button are the only two functions that I would set and leave.

Most of the other custom functions depend in what you're shooting and the given situation, or your preferences in certain images.

Enjoy the new camera.
