Hi guys. I have an issue with my camera that only came to light the other day. I was photographing my daughter at an athletics competition when i passed the camera to one of the other parents to take a few shots of their child. I put the camera in A+ for them, told them just to point and shoot and the camera will do everything else only for them to hand it to me saying it wouldn't focus. It will focus in every mode apart from full auto! I do not use auto mode so i'm not sure how long this has been an issue! I have reset all settings and taken it to two camera shops who don't know why this is happening. has anyone had a similar problem? I am a little worried that the entire system may break down while on a job.

Thanks

I know canon have some modes/options disabled in basic auto, I don't know if this is one of them though.

One of the focus modes - can't remember which one as I no longer have Canon - doesn't show the focus point even though it does focus.

Go to C.Fn2 menu (2 of 4 menu with Orange Camera symbol) then go to custom controls. The first one is the Shutter butt. half-press, choose AF On and Metering.
