5D Just went dead

Hi guys

just formating a cf card and my 5d went dead .. tried 4 fully charged batteries .. but nothing ..... .... anyone got any ideas or advice

Remove power from it totally and it may reset. Take the battery out and also the button type battery backup as well, and leave it for a few minutes before putting them back in. I can't promise it'll fix it but it's certainly worth a try.

Edit: You'll lose any saved settings, date and time info etc. But if it does work that's a minor inconvenience.

have you removed the cf card that you was formatting it may be shorting out and stopping the camera turning on

No ........... looks like it is off to canon .... if it is a fuse why the hell don't they sit it where joe blogs
can get to it and change it ..

has anyone had one fixed .. if so how much or do i go and invest in a new one ..

now this is strange

my 5d has started up .. , but wont fire .. i can select everything , apart from it seems it can't now find the lens ..or get into menu / info etc

took the batt out put it back in and it wont come on again ..then came back on took batt out and i had two lights come on the yellow access lamp , and blue print button .....

way to much Canon gear m8 .. i would lose too much second hand and then have all the out lay all over again .. + i know my Canon ...

Just turned it on and again not finding lens .. Time to get a 5D M11 and get this fixed and sell it .. Just won't trust it ..

Now and then my 5D has a funny turn and although there is power and a display it wont fire. The solution seems to be to clear all settings (from menu). On the two occasions it's happened to me that did the job and all you need to do is remember what your prefered settings are so you can set them up again.

Can't get into the menu .. so no chance of trying that ... Wish i could it would be worth a try ..
if i do get a display the functions buttons on the back of camera don't work !

Yes m8 tried that ... just waiting on canon now .. had an email saying they will be in touch ...... i told them a Camera less than 2 years old and not working is not fit for purpose !
